Update from 4/27/2013

William E., Newegg
15 March 2015
  • Summary: Read the updates from owners with failed drivers. So far, so good; although use of the drive has been light primarily due to the use of a laptop (Pro 256 SSD), tablet & smart phone.
  • Pros: Speed.
  • Cons: None.

SSD...what SSD?

Kevin C., Newegg
9 November 2014
  • Pros: Love my two 64GB versions and wish I could have tested this one.
  • Cons: Talk about unfortunate bad luck. I bought as a gift for the non-savvy parents, taking it to them many months after I bought it on sale and received it, only to find when I broke the seals and opened it...there was no SSD inside! Cables, manuals, CD, adapter...check, but that was it. OPEN YOURS ev...

fast but died after 1 year

Michael W., Newegg
5 August 2014
  • Pros: blazing fast compared to a hard drive
  • Cons: it died after 1 year, was not even recognized by the bios, probably due to an interface failure.

Excellent SSD

Anonymous, Newegg
22 July 2014
  • Summary: I have been highly impressed with these Samsung SSD's. They are a bit pricey compared to some other brands, but going too cheap is only going to catch someone the wrong way.
  • Pros: Very nice SSD - I run two of these, one in a laptop, one in a desktop. The low wattage is great for the laptop, and the stability and size works for both computers. Obviously, this isn't a *big* hard drive, but for an SSD it is decent sized, and the price (on sale) is definitely reasonable.
  • Cons: The physical size ended up being an issue for the laptop. The laptop was shaken around once and the SSD got loose. An easy fix, but something to think about.

Died within 18 months

Aaron H., Newegg
13 July 2014
  • Summary: I installed correctly, used to play lots of great games and run my system with lots of storage capacity, extremely happy until it gave up the ghost unexpectedly last month. Had not touched anything and the drive started to intermittently connect and reconnect, at first I thought it was just a cable...
  • Pros: Worked good while it lasted Purchased March 2013, Died June 2014 :(
  • Cons: Expensive, especially considering it didn't last me long.

Great Item

Richard R., Newegg
9 July 2014
  • Summary: Have used this SSD pretty heavily for video copy and transfer work in addition to gaming and typical everyday use. Item has been in almost use for over 17 months with absolutely no problems or issues with the drive.
  • Pros: Excellent item, very fast when setup correctly. Has been very reliable. Easy installation, excellent migration/transfer software was provided with drive. Actual drive read and write speeds provided were as advertised or better when drive setup correctly. Very fast boot times.
  • Cons: None

works great, while it works

Alexander T., Newegg
10 April 2014
  • Pros: It worked great for several months, was much faster than the regular harddrive I replaced with it.
  • Cons: Yesterday it froze in the middle of my work and refused to boot afterwards. It's frustrating enough that I lost all my data, but the Samsung support website made the experience even worse. I don't understand how these clowns are still in business, the "request support" link is missing all but 10 ...
