Summary: Both are being used as paper weights for now. I went with Adata SSD sx900 series and have had no issues with it. I purchased these before taking the time to learn about SSDs. Now I know that they are all hype and lacking in long term performance.
Pros: The SSD gives very impressive bench marks. I purchased two of these to use a primary HD for OS installation. I had one in an intel build and an AMD build. After sometime (3-6) , they both started not responding. I was told by a friend, who recommended them, that there is a software to install to ...
Cons: Who wants to buy an SSD and later has to update the software because the manufacturers software was junk?
Cons: unstable.. when it works on toshiba laptop, it dies..and reboot and die...and reboot... and dies..and reboot... endless....fighting...so tired of doing this.. and i can not even find one line rma place... dont buy...samsung..
Summary: Contacted a Samsung Total Tech Solutions, Inc. Samsung Factory Service – SSD & Memory Department and all they're willing to do under the warranty is replace this drive with a recertified drive. I find that completely unacceptable.
Pros: Fastest thing I've ever seen.
Cons: Took until now to become fully unusable. Reloaded several times with the last load lasting less than a day before it crashed again.
Summary: I've been trying for a week to contact Samsung for an RMA number. I just tried to send a trouble email but after selecting the model number and clicking on submit, the link doesn't work: http://www.samsung.com/us/support/email/product/# I happily own several Samsung products that work reliably well...
Pros: When it worked, it was fast, silent, and efficient. I was getting boot times of < 10 seconds.
Cons: In only 10 months, the drive just stopped working. I analyzed the drive and found no bootable partitions. This was my first SSD so I can't say anything positive about the product reliability.
Cons: Formatted only once during original installation of windows 7. Lasted less than 8 months. Will no longer initialize. This drive is Dead, Dead, Dead! ...Gave this an "egg" because it was required to post a comment. If I could have given it a -5 "eggs" I would have. Honestly Samsung, I still have 3...
Summary: Samsung's RMA process is pretty bad. Their online RMA site doesn't work. You enter all of your information, and you are greeted with a page not found error upon submission. Since the website did not work, I was forced to call customer service.
Pros: Very fast compared to a mechanical drive.
Cons: This drive failed after about 4 weeks. Drive was no longer detected in my BIOS or by windows. Drive is being RMA'd.
Summary: I have hated every Samsung product I've owned but I took a chance on this SSD after reading the reviews and specs here on Newegg. Now I am getting random "Operating system not found" errors and my laptop is freezing up when I do get it to boot. I put the original hard drive back in and it runs fine.
Pros: Fast when it works.
Cons: Crashing my PC and refusing to boot after 9 months.
Summary: Looking forward for a product replacement!
Pros: Fast speed and low cost!
Cons: After 3 months of usage, my operating system stopped working. When I rebooted, the ssd wasn't recognize by the motherboard. I don't think I've reached the max cycles in 3 months! It is surely a hardware failure!
