Cons: I purchased the product in December 2013, and it was dead in November 2014. I used it very carefully without any alteration and violation. It said that the product warranty policy for Samsung 840 pro is 5 years. However, I could not find a way to request RMA in the official website and I wrote an email to Samsung service center two weeks age. I have never got ANY response. I felt very disappointed about that. Actually, I had another Samsung SSD (840 pro - 256G) and pl...
Works great while it's lasts... Died after 18months

Summary: Waste of money HDD's are better. Save the money.
Pros: Okay it's a good drive while it lasts. Good speed faster boot times and all that.
Cons: Totally unreliable. If you want to blow some money for a fast drive knock yourself out. Died after 18 months. Not even using its full 6gb transfer rate. Well maintained and cool running. If you want to reformat your system when it dies fly at your own risk.
Pros: I've bought this ssd drive from another retailer and it worked remarkably well achieving a read speed of 557MB/s and a write speed of 460 MB/s.
Cons: Unfortunately the Samsung Magician software "upgraded" my firmware and my speeds have plummeted to 370 and 230 MB/sec (read/write). I've contacted Samsung support and their only suggestion was to format the drive... If you buy this drive do not install the Samsung Magician Software!! Or even better If you want a trouble free experience try another manufacturer.
Cons: It died after six months. It was the drive for my OS and apps and installed inside an ATX case. It wasn't moved or messed with and gave no hint that it was going to fail until one day it just was no longer accessible.
Cons: Longevity of life. I've owned mine less than a year. Came home this afternoon to the stench of burned electronics. The drive melted to the inside of my case. Overall temp of the case was pretty low... I wasn't doing anything crazy. The melted plastic dripped onto my other drive's SATA connector and now is not detectable by an OS. This thing cost me 2 drives and a lot of data. Would not recommend.
Summary: I should have known better when NewEgg has a replacement only policy on a product. That must mean it has had more than its share of returns. I may sell this online for cheap.
Pros: The SSD itself looks nice, is very light weight, and simple to install. The software recognizes it and I have no reason to think it isn't a perfect SSD.
Cons: The Data Migration software is completely useless! I have maybe 200G on my old HD and this is a 128G drive so the migration tool needs to scan for photos and songs so they aren't migrated. After maybe 30-45 minutes it starts popping up a constant string of stacked Out Of Memory dialog boxes. If I wind my way through and close them all the application crashes. I've now done this three times with tweaks in between. I'm running Win 7 64-bit, 6GB RAM, 1TB TB Raid. It shou...
Summary: If you buy this make sure you are VERY VERY careful......it is a flimsy piece of kit, and the communications break to easily, as I now know, so a complete waste of money and is now in the bin....
