Summary: This drive is advertised with a 3 year warranty. The MTBF is estimated at 15 years. Apparently this is greatly inflated. Some of these drive are DOA. Mine lasted 21 months before failing. While it worked it was great. Samsung still handles the warranty on SSD drives. Seagate handles the warranty on all other drives. There direct number is (201) 935-0670.
Summary: This is an excellent SSD, I replaced the HDD of my Toshiba 630 laptop. I'm using windows 7 and was board whenever I need to do a start up for the system or reboot. With this SSD the reboot is extremely fast and launching application as well.
Summary: Pro: stable; great price; a definite improvement over mechanical drives; Samsung Magician software makes configuring your OS a breeze Con: SATA II; speed is not impressive for a SSD --- my Patriot Wildfire crushed it in Passmark benchmarking
Summary: Plugged it in and it worked flawlessly. Very quick boot times. Windows 7 has all the drivers, etc built in so it is very simple. Make sure you set your BIOS to AHCI as with all SSDs, preferably before installing new copy of windows 7.
Summary: This summer, I was looking into buying a new computer, but $1000+ dollars were out of my price range. So I looked into other upgrades I could do myself, and going to an SSD was one of the most recommended. After much research I decided to take the Samsung 470 series, as it had the best reviews and the price was reasonable for an SSD. Installation was extremely easy, done in 15 minutes.
Summary: A definite must have for gaming. These SS Drives are super fast. No more HDD drives for me. I'll only use HDD drives for storage till the prices really come down on the SS Drives. This is my second one with zero problems so far. Can't wait till I can purchase a 3 TB SS drive for around $300.
