Summary: I installed the hard drive without a problem using Paragon's Hard Disk Manager to create an image of the old C-Drive. Oh, I used the Apricorn universal hard disk adapter to connect the new drive to the computer as part of transferring an image of my C-drive to it (the new drive). The new drive works well (I really needed extra capacity and that was about all I needed). If the new drive works faster than the old drive ... well, I don't know or care ...
Summary: My hubby was able to save my G4 Powerbook 17" 2003 laptop with this HD after the MAC store decided that they no longer service my machine! It's not the easiest thing to replace but with instructions from iFixIt.com was very easy to follow. I'd recommend downloading the app on your phone.
Summary: This drive works great in my iBook G4, and it is MUCH quieter than the original hard drive. Be warned that do-it-yourself websites that say the process of replacing the hard drive in an iBook is "Difficult" are not exaggerating -- it is a very lengthy process that involves removing close to four dozen screws, the top and bottom of the outer case, both heat shields, the Airport card and more.
Summary: I'm using this in a Thinkpad T40 which puts the hard drive right under the palmrest, so operating temperature becomes a concern when you've been using it a while. The original Hitachi Deathstars ran so hot, I'd lift my hand to reveal a puddle of sweat, then right before failure they'd get too hot to touch -- no good! This hard drive has none of the problems the Hitachi models did.
Summary: Purchased this to replace the crashed hard disk on my mac - a power pc g4 ibook, it took me 4 hours to replace it. Followed directions on ifixit for ibook hard drive all the way. Works much better than the original disk with 5 times the capacity.
Summary: Replaced the original Sony VAIO TXN27N CD/DVD drive with this hard drive using the newmodeUS.com Optical Bay Hard Drive Caddy (OBHD9-PATA-B), Black, 9.5mm. I had to file 2 slots on one side to attach the CD/DVD mount to the hard drive caddy. This hard drive is much faster than the original 4200rpm 1.8" hard drive and works great.
