  • Summary: The hard drive has several boot sector errors and so far I've low level formatted 3 times and ran CHKDSK in it 6 times to lock out any other bad sectors. Sense then it appears to be working OK.

Not as fast as Hitachi Travelstar 7K100

J. Bryan, Amazon
27 August 2010
  • Summary: I bought this for my ancient Dell Inspiron 8200 hoping it would boost the performance over the Hitachi Travelstar 7K100 I'd been using, but this was not the case. If you're looking at this drive to extend the life of an old ATA-based laptop, get the Travelstar instead. In HD Tune the Samsung shows faster burst speed, but the Hitachi shows faster access. In practice, the Samsung is very noticeably slower and more sluggish, especially when opening files/folders/apps.

Never again!

Anonymous, Newegg
12 November 2009
  • Summary: I've never known Samsung to make high quality hard drives... and this was no exception. It seems to be a common theme that these drives live fast and die young. I probably wouldn't buy any Samsung hard drive again.
  • Pros: Inexpensive
  • Cons: Died after 6 months of use

Samsung 160gb laptop ide hard drive.

Mr. T. J. Martin, Amazon
23 July 2012
  • Summary: Bought this to replace a dying 80gb oem drive in an old HP laptop. No problems with installation and it runs win xp pro pretty good. My only reservations are that it is noisy when seeking, and drive does make a lot of clicking noises in general. This is a bit worrying as it can be an indicator of possible drive failure in the near future but I will wait and see. I will update if problems develop.

Samsung HDD

bluestar, Amazon
8 August 2011
  • Summary: This is a wonderful replacement and upgrade of my DELL Inspiron 8200 and I have now got larger capacity Hard Drive.I am not a Computer specialist but an ordinary user. Hard drive came in an ordinary package and looked like a pound shop package. Although it has 160GB capacity but after installing the C drive shows 127GB and large size sits in an unallocated space. For user like me there should have been more detail and illustrative manual covering all these aspects.

18 March 2011
  • Summary: Habe 2 davon gekauft. Die Erste nach 8 Monaten defekt, die Zweite nach 10 Monaten. Waren in zweit unterschiedlichen Laptops verbaut.
