Died after 5 months of use.

Summary: Worked fine for a while, but just died after a mere five months in service (Compaq Evo N410c). I tried it also in another laptop just to be sure it was really dead. I guess I'll try another brand.
Summary: Very disappointed. Drive is very fast, and very quiet, and had no bad sectors, until now...only 4 months later. Thankfully, I have a recent clone from before it started to fail. If a new drive starts having errors after only 4 months (when the last drive it replaced lasted 5 years without a single error), then the drive receives one star. I do not recommend this drive, and I will now begin the search for yet another replacement.
Summary: I ordered this replace a hard drive in an ibook G4. I followed ifixit's guide and was good to go. It's speedier for sure. I'd recommend this drive to any legacy ibook user. Update - Jan. 2013 - This drive crashed about 6 months in and I moved on to other projects. I forgot I reviewed it here.
Summary: There's not a lot of choices for a PATA 2.5" drive, but at least what's left is quality. No issues with the Spinpoint drive or this seller. Follow the directions in the box and install your own drive in 5 minutes or less. UPDATE: 6 mos in and the drive failed. Likely it's just defective, but I wonder if it doesn't deal with heat very well (it's in an HP laptop after all).
Summary: I bought 3 of these over a 30-day period. I refurbish laptops and thought these were a good value. 1 failed within a month and one within 3 months. The third is in my personal laptop - yikes - and working fine. I will find out soon how well Samsung handles returns. By the way, I've purchased dozens of the WD HDD's and never had a failure. UPDATE: THE EXCHANGE PROCESS WITH SAMSUNG WAS SIMPLE AND QUICK. THE REPLACEMENT DRIVE AND MY OWN ARE PERFORMING WELL.
Summary: The drive arrived with one pin bent. I was able to straighten it but the physical design of the case prevents installing it. At either end of the pins array is a plastic piece approximately an inch long on one end and 1/2" long on the other, which prevents using an adaptor which is required by my Dell laptop. I also cannot use it in a drive bay extension or a USB/2.5 interface for the same reason. I will be returning this product.
Excellent Replacement Hard Drive until it dies....

Summary: I purchased this drive as a replacement for a failed 40GB HD in an old Compaq Presario laptop. Installed the drive, re-installed OS and up and running! The system increased storage x4 and the system speed increased as the seek time is much improved over the old drive. I'm a happy camper! Update, 18 months later, drive failed smart test and is dead.....Checked warranty and it was like 30 days best I can find. Get what you paid for I guess.
