Summary: The drive arrived with one pin bent. I was able to straighten it but the physical design of the case prevents installing it. At either end of the pins array is a plastic piece approximately an inch long on one end and 1/2" long on the other, which prevents using an adaptor which is required by my...
Summary: Worked fine for a while, but just died after a mere five months in service (Compaq Evo N410c). I tried it also in another laptop just to be sure it was really dead. I guess I'll try another brand.
Summary: If you want a hard drive, stick with Seagate or Western Digital. I have deviated from this rule 3 times and got bit every time. I went Hitachi, and it failed. I went Toshiba, and that failed, too. Finally, I went Samsung, and that failed as well.
Pros: 160 GB
Cons: Price! This drive died a year almost to the day, after purchasing it. What is worse, is that I bought the drive to refurbished a laptop for a friend, as a gift. I look like a joke now, because of Samsung's defective hard drive!!!
Summary: Very disappointed. Drive is very fast, and very quiet, and had no bad sectors, until now...only 4 months later. Thankfully, I have a recent clone from before it started to fail. If a new drive starts having errors after only 4 months (when the last drive it replaced lasted 5 years without a single...
Summary: I ordered this replace a hard drive in an ibook G4. I followed ifixit's guide and was good to go. It's speedier for sure. I'd recommend this drive to any legacy ibook user. Update - Jan. 2013 - This drive crashed about 6 months in and I moved on to other projects. I forgot I reviewed it here.
Summary: Oh well, I guess I have another 2TB USB drive (sigh). Will have to order the WD EARS drive (and shame on WD and Newegg for not including a jumper pin for these drives).
Cons: Shame on Newegg and Samsung... absolutely no warning that these drives are NOT compatible with WHS v1. Unlike the WD EARS drives, where you can just jumper them and they plain work... and no, the samsung utility to re-align the drive does not work within WHS either. Complete waste of time and money.
Summary: Why should I buy any samsung product? Support is incompetent. Now Samsung gets to lose my business, as well as my friends and family.
Pros: Worked for a while?
Cons: Died, and now I am going through the support hoops. Samsung is absolutely convinced I bought this drive in MALAYSIA, and want me to take my support request through the Asian Samsung hdd branch. The drive is under warranty, but I will be expected to ship it to Singapore. Impossible to contact via ...
