Summary: I installed the hard drive without a problem using Paragon's Hard Disk Manager to create an image of the old C-Drive. Oh, I used the Apricorn universal hard disk adapter to connect the new drive to the computer as part of transferring an image of my C-drive to it (the new drive). The new drive works well (I really needed extra capacity and that was about all I needed). If the new drive works faster than the old drive ... well, I don't know or care ...
Summary: The drive arrived with one pin bent. I was able to straighten it but the physical design of the case prevents installing it. At either end of the pins array is a plastic piece approximately an inch long on one end and 1/2" long on the other, which prevents using an adaptor which is required by my Dell laptop. I also cannot use it in a drive bay extension or a USB/2.5 interface for the same reason. I will be returning this product.
Summary: It works well for older systems that uses PATA(IDE) interfaces on laptops. I had bought and PATA(IDE) from another vendor which never lasted for more than month for some unknown reason, I could still read the data but couldn't boot. I returned the first on for an exchange and the exchanged one experienced the same issue, won't boot but still could read the data. I bought this hard drive from Amazon vendor and it worked for several months now without any problems.
Summary: Replaced the original Sony VAIO TXN27N CD/DVD drive with this hard drive using the newmodeUS.com Optical Bay Hard Drive Caddy (OBHD9-PATA-B), Black, 9.5mm. I had to file 2 slots on one side to attach the CD/DVD mount to the hard drive caddy. This hard drive is much faster than the original 4200rpm 1.8" hard drive and works great.
