Samsung's 750GB Spinpoint was second only to Samsung's 1TB disk when writing large files and reading small files. It couldn't repeat this impressive performance when reading large files or writing small files, though, and came mid-table, with Western Digital's 750GB Caviar edging ahead. The Hitachi and Western Digital 750GB disks are cheaper and more consistent, making them better value. Read more

Seagate suspended the warranty on this product. if you buy it, you'll need proof of purchase to claim warranty. Read more
- NONE... I was using this product as a backup. Now I have no backup. In an effort to save money they will require proof of purchase, and they have cut the warranty leng...
- This item is now officially out of warranty as per Seagate's Customer service representative.

Samsung have a decent and speedy RMA process. Sent my drive in and was shipped back a different recertified drive. Put the drive in my fileserver and all has been well since (~4 months). Read more
- Decent speed (high 80's-90 MB/sec with hdparm on ext4). Holds a good amount of stuff.
- One died after about 6 months in my fileserver (out of two).

When it comes to Hard Drives, nearly every single IT guy or gal I know will tell me to only buy a Western Digital or a Seagate. Their reasoning, although quite sound, is always the same. Every time they say something to the effect that "That's how they built their company and they're still the best". It's a tough thing to argue with. In fact, all but one of my hard drives are WD or Seagate. Then I got to thinking about the Brown Derby. Read more

Samsung HD753LJ is an internal had disk drive in Spinpoint F DT series developed by Samsung. It has a storage capacity of 750 GB and utilizes SATA 3.0 Gbps with buffer memory of 16 MB with rotational speed of 7200 rpm.

Features

The HD753LJ utilizes Serial ATA which uses 4 signal-lines that allows much more compact cables compared to PATA. It has a maximum of 334 GB formatted capacity per disk. Besides that, it is built with SATA Native Command Queuing (NCQ) feature set that re-ordering the commands sent by the computer to the HDD which increase its performance. Other than that, it also features PMR that improved the recording stability. In addition, it also installed with initiated power management which it will automatically switches on power saving mode and cuts down on electricity through the SATA cable which can effectively reduce power consumption Also, it features staggered spin-up that is reliable and avoids power surges if all of the HDDs spin up simultaneously during system power up (in a multi-drive environment). It is also ATA SMART compliant which it checks the reliability itself. Additionally, it also features ATA automatic acoustic management, ATA 48-bit address, ATA streaming and ATA device configuration overlay. SilentSeek feature minimizes the mechanical excitation generated by any resonance, virtually eliminating the source of seek acoustic noise. Meanwhile, ImpacGuard eliminates vibration of an HDD disc when not assisted by the helping head media, which is parked in the landing zone.
