Summary: Probably kind of pointless to review something but I was looking at my purchase history figured why not!
Pros: It worked up till now, staring to get random BSODs and start up sometimes dont happen. This was a pretty quit drive as well
Cons: Lasted 5 years 1 month, wish for more as of now prices of HDD are kind of high due to weather disasters (at least thats what I have read). Samsung is made by Seagate now so will see whats available.
Summary: Bad luck on my part maybe, but one of the 3 drives I installed in my Raid 5 array was reported as defective/failing by my CERC 1.5/6 Raid controller. RMA'd and waiting for replacement now. Ordering a 4th of this drive as well for a hot spare. This is the first time I've had a drive fail on me.
Pros: Drives are workhorses. Have 2 of these in a Raid 1 array for more than a year so I bought 3 more to add a second Raid 5 array to the server. Total of 5 drives now with 2 in a Raid 1 array (about 480Gb) and 3 in Raid 5 array (about 967GB), which suits my PowerEdge 1800 well.
Summary: if it wasn't for that clicking noise in the beginning when i first bought it would get 5 eggs but since it was clicking im still concerned
Pros: Very quiet hard drive and fast 16meg cache makes all the difference
Cons: im very concerned its only been a week and when installing vista it started making clicking noises they disappeared after that but im still keeping caution and maintaining backups till i can trust this drive.
Summary: These are my first Samsung purchases as hard disks go.
Pros: Drives were all fine, just wanted to write that one finally failed on me. I bought 5 in Jan 08 and one failed in I think October. Just forgot to write a review on it. It kept coming up with Bad Sectors from their Service Code AJ24 using software from their site
Cons: only that 1 out of 5 drives failed on me after a year of use...
