Summary: I have owned two of these for a few years, using them in RAID-0 (stripe). They have been through 3 operating systems and have never had an issue. Now that I finally have a motherboard that can support their throughput they are extremely fast.
Summary: I know lots of people have given a bad review about this HD. Well i doubt it, I've had it for 4 years now and havent had a problem with it. I dont believe it's even noisy, in fact you can barely hear it. In my opinion it a very good HD and very spacious.
Summary: Built my system in July 2007. Bought 4 and used 3 of these drives (one on the shelf pending inevitable failure) in a RAID-5 configuration giving me about a 1TB fault tolerant data drive. Today - 6 Mos after the warranty expired, ONE of the drives failed.
Summary: This drive died on me today after living at majority of its life (1 year) alone in an ATX "project" case. After only 124 power cycles, at least 20 of which occurred just today, this drive already has 103 bad sectors. Avoid.
Summary: I just wanted to add my positive experience with this hard drive. This drive came with my HP Pavilion Slimline, which is a small enclosure so the computer itself gets rather hot. The hard drive hasn't had a single problem. Of course, I backup the contents to an external drive just to be safe.
Summary: This hard drive failed in 11 months. Initially I got warnings from S.M.A.R.T. that the hard drive is failing. In a few days, the hard drive started making loud grinding noises and the OS would hang after some time. I used this as a data drive (didn't install any OS on it).
