Summary: I've had this drive for over two years now, and it hasn't suffered a single blip. It's relatively quiet in that I can't hear it over anything else running in the case, and I've had no problems. It isn't the fastest, but I'd buy another in a heartbeat.
Summary: I bought this for an Mvix Ultio in 2009. It worked for about six months and then it started locking up randomly. I blamed the Ultio until I pulled the drive out and stuffed it in a PC, installed Win7, and got an HD failure warning. Apparently, Samsung hard drives are supported through Seagate.
Pros: It's a big drive. It easily held my entire media collection. Warranty was good. Three years is good warranty period. The return process was pretty easy. The HD was in the mail within an hour of calling support.
Cons: It didn't run as cool as I thought it should. The Mvix was always burning hot to touch. It failed rather quickly.
Summary: Bought this a little more than a year ago to increase the amount of storage on my 'puter. This 1.5TB is a little-used back-up to a 1TB 7200rpm WD drive and my system drive, a 250GB 7200rpm Seagate
Pros: Easy install. Still working. Relatively cheap. I was a bit wary of buying a Samsung drive, but so far it's been good to me.
Cons: I bought this drive because I figured I'd use it substantially less than the other 2 I have, thereby using less energy. While that is still true, I generally place large files on it, so it can sometimes take awhile to move if I'm transferring from one of the other two, both of which are 7200rpm. ...
Summary: do your research before buying this. some motherboards will accept only up to 1tb without a bios flash. this drive is replacing a dead one for a media center pc using a mini-itx atom board from gigabyte.
Summary: I'm using this HDD with a docking station as an external backup. I am a little worried about the noise it makes in conjunction with the 1-egg reviews I've seen on here, but I got it at the end of March and it's still running strong.
Pros: Good price. Good storage. Quick speed.
Cons: Nothing major, but it does make an interesting noise while writing/reading.
Summary: i am really surprised by how little noise this hard drive makes. my case does not have hard drive mounts that make for the most quite of rigs but this drive is not making a sound or at least is quieter then my fan.
Pros: the fact that it makes almost no noise is the main pro that is not covered it the description.
Cons: would not mind if the write speeds were faster
Summary: I purchased several drives to try with my Moxi DVR . The 1.5TB Samsung EcoGreen is the best I have tried so far. Western Digital 500 GB My DVR Expander - No power button. Toshiba PH3200U-1EXB 2TB - Would shut down after 30 minutes idle and not wake up.
