Summary: I purchased four of these drives for a RAID configuration in a Synology DS410 network attached storage device. Unfortunately, one of the drives failed out of the box -- failed disk scan and failed low level format. Sent back to Newegg to RMA and currently awaiting replacement drive.
Pros: - Packaged very well from Newegg despite comments in other reviews - Cheap
Cons: - One of four drives failed Samsung's disk scan out of the box - Hope the failure is not indicative of other problems in the future - Cheap
Summary: Newegg emailed me a shipping label to ship it back for an exchange. This is the first Samsung drive I have ever used, I hope they hold up better than my first experience with them.
Pros: The price for a 1.5 terabyte is now in my price range. The drive(s) are very quiet.
Cons: Ordered 2 of these drives along with a Synology DS211j NAS. Took about 8 hours to format in NAS and all went well. As I was transferring files from my computer to the NAS, one of the drives failed. Fortunately, I was only coping file and not moving them.
Summary: I don't normally add reviews to purachases but think it's worth my time since I have an experience similar to another reviewer (robbo100) and would like to give fair warning. Very happy with the delivery TIME since this arrived earlier than expected by several days though amazon could be quite...
Summary: Had this drive for over a year now in my Windows 7 Media Centre . The first one failed when it was around 11 months old and have over 700Gbs of data. Luckily I was able to back it up and then called Amazon's customer service, who told me to contact Samsung.
Insufficient Packaging/Protection During Delivery - But Good Product

Summary: I bought this drive last week and it arrived yesterday. The product is fine, quiet, quick and good value for money - does exactly what I needed it for (extra storage in my HTPC setup). I am not someone who benchmarks equipment like this so I am only commenting qualitatively, but so far I am happy.
