Summary: I purchased this Sata hard drive to gain extra needed space. I upgraded to windows 7 and installed on my new hard drive. My computer runs a lot faster and now I have the needed additional storage I wanted. Samsung has a good name and they're 1 TB hard drive has quality that is hard to beat. I recommend this hard drive to anyone who desires a quality item.
Summary: This drive is quiet, very quiet. It came with out cables - bare bones, but I knew this before buying. My main gripe is that I got 937.77gigs of space. I know you never get the full amount listed, but I would have expected to be somewhere of the ballpark of 970gigs - 990 gigs, 62 gigs and change is a LOT to lose.
Summary: I was replacing a raid one set up so I replaced both one of the time course and they performed and have been performing just fine ever since. but I did replace them with the exact same drives that we removed.
Summary: I use these in my Newer Voyager Q. It's a little FW800 drive toaster. So I'm constantly swapping drives in and out and I use them for video, photos, artwork, archives, etc. They're awesome and I've burned out countless drive enclosures and the drives always stay good - and they're always these Samsung drives. Love em.
Summary: Snappy little drive. It does seem to make spin-up sounds on boot but then it quiets down, unlike a Seagate drive I have that makes a little click every few minutes and will probably fail soon. I use this as the main drive in my home theater PC and it's plenty fast. I thought about swapping this for an SSD as boot and this for storage but honestly it's fast enough for me.
both disks failed in under a year. Manufacturer says they're out of warranty...

Summary: I purchased 2 of these back in September of 2011. As of July of 2012, both disks have significant uncorrectable errors and are unusable. Manufacturer's warranty is supposedly 1 year. Samsung/Seagate websites says they are out of warranty. I would beware of this seller and these drives. I have been completely unsuccessful at getting these bad disks RMA'd.

Summary: I bought this hard drive in June '11 for a custom build, and it has worked perfectly fine. I just wanted to point out for those who are curious, that the Windows Experience Index subscore for this HD is 5.9. Carry on.
