Excerpt: replaced a non-booting 320Gb HD in iMac 8,1 Late 2008 with this unit. Installed with AdaptaDrive 2.5" to 3.5" Drive Converter Bracket by Newer Technology to fit the space; also mainly to align with the on board drive sockets. wish the price is for a 500Gb instead of 256Gb.
Excerpt: I got this for my 2010 MacBook Pro, having read various comparisons of SSD performance in older model Macs. This SSD works really well; even at 3Gb/s bus speed it's totally worth the upgrade for faster performance. Some other drives claim to work, but perform very badly below spec in a 3Gb/s context. The SMART tools from Samsung don't work with OSX, so I suggest you budget for an app like TrimEnabler to make the most of the drive.
Pros: performs well in older macs
Cons: data migration requires extras, smart tools don't work on mac, trim not enabled by default on mac
Excerpt: Was a good purchase, transaction went smoothly, received product in good condition in a timely manner, would recommend this vendor to others. Will purchase this item again when needed and will recommend to other technicians in my area.
Excerpt: The drive is fast as expected. I could not get the data migration software that came with the drive to install properly. So I tried to uninstall and then re-install, but I could not get the software to uninstall after the failed install attempt. A total PAIN!!! I ended up cloning my mechanical hdd to the SSD using another third party cloning utility. After that, all worked well.
Excerpt: I did a lot of researching before I purchased this SSD and found it was rated highly on (not giving name of site, but I heard from my friend TOM, who is very good with 'hardware'...) and other review sites. I upgraded from a traditional HDD so obviously it is much faster. That goes without saying.
