Summary: So far, it is quiet and fast. My biggest complaint was trying to get the included cloning software (by NTI) to work. Even after going online and finding directions that say you have to go to a specific site, and have that site open while you try to install the cloning software, it didn't work. I found the whole Plextor site to be one where they have designed it so you can't even leave an email for anyone, and you can only TRY to contact them during certain hours.
Summary: I've been running this on a SATAII AM3 platform, and I'm getting results that completely saturate the SATAII bandwidth. If I remember, I'll update when I have a chance to try it in a SATAIII PC. SSDs really are the biggest general computing upgrade a modern computer can have.
Pros: No Sandforce errors, high quality flash, high speeds
Cons: Seems to be higher priced than the Crucial M4, which is a very similar drive
Pros: Plextor is and always had been good to me..excellent speed even at 3G...no problems with drive itself so far...and I think it has 5 yr warranty...if it lasts as long as other Plextor products I will be very happy camper...
Cons: Plextor or Newegg...who ever is responsible for bundling the free NTI software with the drive...you need to throw it away..it has re-written the boot sector on 3 of my clones counting the new drive..it seems to be Linux based software..try to add 2nd hard drive after cloning and it will hang..this software is more like a virus than a utility...highly recommend YOU DO NOT USE!!...try Ghost, Easeus..etc...
Summary: I knew this SSD isn't the fastest or best but when I bought it, it was very competitively priced and I only really needed it for my boot drive and running certain programs like video editing software, Photoshop, and games so it was basically read speed I cared about and reliability. I use my old HDD as storage and where I save my projects.
Pros: Reliable and good read speeds. Cut my boot times greatly compared to my 7200rpm HDD.
Cons: Clone software it worked but when it was almost finished and it asks to reboot system it didn't recognize my razer naga mouse so I couldn't click reboot.... Luckily I had my old logitech mouse and plugged that in and finished it up.
Summary: Major improvement over traditional disk drive. I use photoshop alot and after swapping this drive into my computer it takes less thank half the time to load. I knew an SSD would be faster, but I didn't expect it to be this much faster. Zoom Zoom!!
