M3P another home-run by Plextor

David H., Newegg
7 July 2012
  • Summary: I have not used the bundled software. I have also not had to send anything in for warranty work or otherwise contact Plextor customer service. That being said, I have a M2S and a M2P SSD and never had an issue with either.
  • Pros: Consistent performance, easy firmware updates, elegant case and handy bracket. The M3 Pro is not the fastest thing that has graced creation, nor is it the cheapest, but it is plenty quick and always delivers when called upon which is the true value driver here (sorry for the business jargon). No ...
  • Cons: Price premium may be difficult to justify to first-time buyers who are not familiar with Plextor / have not used or owned other Plextor SSDs.

The wait is over!

Anonymous, Newegg
7 July 2012
  • Summary: Upgraded my 3x Vertex 30GB RAID 0 to this single drive. Wanted to get TRIM back plus add a bit of space and reduce boot times by dropping the RAID screen. Complete success! AS SSD scores went from 237/67 R/W to 221/218 R/W and that is still on SATA 2.
  • Pros: Lightning fast Firmware is a breeze to flash Small, light, and cool
  • Cons: Price I guess but you get what you pay for! Shipped with very old (v1.0) firmware and the flash tool doesn't let you create a bootable thumb drive, CD only. Not a big deal but you'll want to check the firmware and make sure you're up to date (v1.04)

Amazing SSD

Jonathan W., Newegg
13 April 2012
  • Summary: I have two of these in RAID 0 and they beat my patriot pyro (new sandforce) in every possible way. Solid as a rock, and blazing fast. WEI score of 7.9 with 238 gb of useable memory. They worked out of the box with my Dell Precision M6600 and boot times run at 4-5 seconds from post to desktop.
  • Pros: Marvell controller. Probably the fast marvel-driven SSD on the market. Amazing IOPS and sequential reads/writes. DDR3 Cache, 5 year warranty. Server grade toshiba flash memory. Very, very nice enclosure. I have yet to find a picture that does it justice.
  • Cons: Pricey, but I was definitely willing to pay for the performance it it is well worth it.

Plextor PX-128M3P 128 GB

11 November 2012
