Summary: So, this is directed at the manufacturer. Amazon was easy to deal with, and the transaction/shipping went off with out a hitch as always. Very poor read/write speeds even for the time when purchased! They seemingly dumbed down their controller for this smaller SSD, which seems wrong somehow if it's only purpose was to give customers less bang for their buck.
Bought this used for $34 and it's worked just fine so far
1 January 2013
Summary: Have it in a desktop with SATA II headers so have not been able to confirm the read/write speeds as advertised, but it's a heck of a lot faster than any spin drive out there and it's been stable/reliable so far even if it's an OCZ. I have Intel 320s in my laptop and this Petrol has performed just as well for me, so I'd recommend it.
Summary: I bought one of these puppies to host a virtual disk for development work. A few months later, it vanished! No controller I have (Intel, Gigabyte, Promise or Highpoint) can see the drive. I've followed all of the instructions I can find and nothing. In searching for a solution, I discovered that there are a half-dozen people who have reported success and a huge pile of people who have lost data.
Summary: ---- UPDATE ---- Even after more than 8 months, OCZ replaced my Petrol SSD for a newer Agility 4, wich so far has worked incredibly well. Kudos to OCZ for caring about their customer, but the two star rating remains for the horrible Petrol drive. ---- Bought this as my first SSD on February 2012. This is the fifth time I've had to reinstall my OS, because after just a few weeks I start getting file corruption errors.
Summary: I got OCZ Petro 120GB for $90. Installed Windows 7 Ultimate. Running about 1 week. OS missing. Re-format and Re-install OS 3 times and it happened the same [OS missing]. Beware buyers. This company may assemble cheap stuffs to sell cheap. Waste of money. Re-send the product to the manufacture but not yet got back the replacement.
Summary: Thought I was getting a good deal on this drive when I originally purchaced it but after 6 months the computer stopped detecting it. They did RMA it but they replaced it with a 60gb instead of 64gb and the 10.00 in shipping definatly killed the sale when I purchaced it. The new drive works but it was not the sale I was hoping for when purchasing the drive.
