Dead, Dead, Dead
11 June 2013
Summary: Not a good purchase. The ssd did perform well but died all of a sudden with no warning. Purchased on 2/26/12. My wife used laptop about an hour earlier. I turned it on and got the message 'no operating system found'. Connected to a USB on another PC and nothing. No ding, no error, nothing. It was as if I'd plugged in just a USB cord. ssd was dead and no way to recover anything.
Summary: This drive teaches you the importance of backing up your data. Thanks to OCZ, I will have none of the video or pictures my wife took, of the first 6 months of my daughters life. My OCZ history, I have purchased a 700 w power supply from ocz; dead after 10 months, 2 rally flash drives that fell apart and required super glue. I wont buy or use ocz products, my data and time is too important.
Summary: I had this drive in a hard drive enclosure. I used it to hold virtual machines and travel to client locations to program from my laptop on site. I would use it about 20 hours a week. Thank God I had backups. Out of the blue, it just stopped working. It's less then two years old. Definitely going to go thru the warranty process. But by the look of the other reviews. That's going to be a chore.
Summary: I had to return the first OCZ SSD because it failed and would not even allow itself to be re-formated. I have had four total drive failures since the purchase of the first. Today I experienced another total drive failure. Not even Windows 7 Installation disk would recognize the drive so I cannot restore it from my image badckup file. Fortunately Amazon is easy to work with on defective merchandise.
Summary: Plenty fast and was quite satisfied until it died. OCZ say they will replace it with RMA. I asked if the replacement will be this exact model or an equivalent but newer one. They said that it would be the same model. Not very happy about that at all given that I am potentially facing another drive failure in the future. It's been ~10 years since I had a magnetic drive go bad on me, not satisfied.
Summary: This is a bad drive, bad bad drive. Died suddenly after 6 months of use. It was fast before its dead. Remember, reliability is a #1 concern in data storage. DO NOT BUY! My other OCZ Agility 2 died after one year of use. Same thing happens to a different line of product of OCZ. This tells you something.
