Not worth buying, won't last
Joel W., Newegg
15 March 2015
Summary: If they could make this where it actually can be used in place of a hard drive without any issue and make it where it will last as long or more than a hard drive then this would be a really worthwile purchase, but as it stands, I would have to say that I would definitely pass this one up.
Pros: Works great when it works. once it dies, forget about getting it running again.
Cons: Will die if you have it connected to a laptop that goes into sleep/hibernate made or if your computer is set to ahci mode. I contacted OCZ about mine dying, of course it was out of warranty period and all I was told was too bad. I really thought these were built to last a long time and actually take over harddrives as our new use for storage. For some reason, there are way too many ways to mess this one up and they have refused to fix it. I kept mine up to date with a...
Pros: When it worked, I'd gave it raves. It was a superior drive on speed and didn't have a problem one with it. Until one day, it decided it just didn't and it failed hard. Personally, for the money.. Not worth the pain.
Cons: Seems like I'm the other with the complaints of it dying right outside the warranty. When it failed, it seriously failed. No warning, nothing other than started making my machine hang on POST. After alot of patience, I got it reformatted and actually was using it as a secondary storage device for temp files until today. Total failure and machine won't POST even when drive is in as secondary. Don't even consider this drive. I was an OCZ cheerleader but now off to anoth...
Summary: Do not buy from OCZ, sooner or later you'll regret it. 3 years is a long time for some but I've got a Western Digital clunker HDD from 2005 that still spins up and works from a Dell I had in college. With no moving parts you'd think these drives would last ages. I've been disappointed yet a again my OCZ. This is my 3rd and last failed SSD from them.
Summary: I needed to upgrade my PC, and this was an excellent choice for doing that. My windows exp. scale hits 7.4 with this SSD. (UPDATE) After less than 3 months performing flawlessly, it bricked on me last night... No warning or signs of impending failure like you would get from a normal HDD.
Cons: Died after 1 month of use. I purchased two of these and created a raid out of them and they both died at the same time and I lost everything. Didn't expect to need to have a second backup since they were in a RAID.
Summary: setting a raid with 2 of those was somehow complicated but do-able
Pros: it was fast for the time it worked, was really satisfied
Cons: I bought 2 of those, after one year the first broke, a orange light would appear instead of green and my technician even told me that he coulnt repair it.... was really shoked because i as told that SSD was very durable. 4 months later... the second broked 2... i cant believe it and hope i will get a replacement really fast or a refund because its definitly either a REALLY bad product or im the most unlocky guys in this world
Summary: Not a good purchase. The ssd did perform well but died all of a sudden with no warning. Purchased on 2/26/12. My wife used laptop about an hour earlier. I turned it on and got the message 'no operating system found'. Connected to a USB on another PC and nothing. No ding, no error, nothing. It was as if I'd plugged in just a USB cord. ssd was dead and no way to recover anything.
Summary: If you want a disposable drive that only lasts a year, I highly suggest this brick.
Pros: Super fast, decent price
Cons: Only runs for one year. Don't put anything important on it because you will be shipping it back. I bought my first drive 4-1-2011 and it died within a year. RMA'd back to OCZ which they replaced with a brand new drive only to have it die again 5-5-2013.
Summary: This drive teaches you the importance of backing up your data. Thanks to OCZ, I will have none of the video or pictures my wife took, of the first 6 months of my daughters life. My OCZ history, I have purchased a 700 w power supply from ocz; dead after 10 months, 2 rally flash drives that fell apart and required super glue. I wont buy or use ocz products, my data and time is too important.
