OCZ Vertex LE 100GB

maximum pc
4 May 2010
  • Excerpt: OCZ clearly hopes the perceived rarity of its Limited Edition Vertex drive will increase desire for the product. A limited run of 5,000 is one way to do that. But if you’ve got a drive with performance this good, wouldn’t you want everyone to buy one? Like the OWC Mercury Extreme Enterprise, the OCZ Vertex Limited Edition is a 100GB drive built on the SandForce SF-1500 controller.
  • Pros: Very fast read and write speeds; TRIM support; cheap.
  • Cons: Limited edition; not much to look at.

OCZ Vertex Limited Edition, SandForce Powered SSD

  • Conclusion: Performance Summary: To be perfectly frank, and hey, that's what you come here for, we were sort of baffled at the sometimes strong, sometimes slightly lack-luster performance of the first iteration of OCZ's Vertex 2 Pro series SSD that is built with an identical PCB and controller platform as the new Vertex Limited Edition.
  • Pros: Superb all around performance, Great sustained performance with maintenance algo, Best of class write performance, Claimed increased durability, reliability
  • Cons: Very pricey, Limited availability

OCZ Vertex Limited Edition 100 GB

31 March 2010
