Summary: If you tell someone to contact the rma department for an update, maybe you should have an e-mail address listed for your rma department somewhere. Many reviews say it takes a month to get a replacement, not the "1-2 business days" listed on their website. I will never buy another OCZ SSD. Ever. I probably won't even touch anything else made by the company. Do Not Buy.
Pros: It worked well in the beginning, windows installed great, pretty fast.
Cons: Suddenly stopped working after about a year of use, shutting off completely after working for 1-15 minutes. I couldn't save anything off of the drive, windows kept freezing and required a couple hard reboots (power switch on the psu) to make the drive get recognized again. Applied for a rebate about three weeks ago, they got it almost two weeks ago, not a word in response.
Summary: OCZ 250G SSD installed it in MacBook(13-inch, Aluminum, Late 2008), and the speedup was satisfied. But SSD does not work after installation in about 1 week, and it is the status that cannot return a product because I keep a record of important data.
Pros: Was a great drive while it worked. Introduced me to the SSD market and the speeds have been amazing.
Cons: Unfortunately, like many others here, I am joining the RMA club (first RMA ever after 15 years of building pc's). I have owned the drive for a little over a year and a half and now the drive will not be recognized in bios - very disappointing.
Summary: I hesitate to RMA this latest failed drive because I just don't want a fourth drive with the same trouble. I have bought lots of stuff from OCZ over the years, and it seems like their manufacturing quality has seriously gone downhill.
Pros: Speed is good for a first-generation Indilinx drive. Was one of the first drives to support TRIM. OCZ was posting regular firmware updates.
Cons: 1. The firmware updating process is a complete mess. While OCZ had been forthcoming with regular firmware updates, the updates would only work on certain systems and in certain conditions. If your only PC is a laptop or brand name without an ability to change drive controller modes from AHCI to IDE, you're completely out of luck for updating. 2. First drive I owned lasted a year before it failed. BSOD's and drive dropout due to inability to read sectors. RMA'd it. Ano...
Summary: I have wasted many hours of valuable time and money attempting to use this drive. It just isn't worth it if you have *anything* of value on it - or if you just value your time. I have never made a single computer purchase I regretted until this one. I don't even want to be told to "please contact and request an RMA to resolve the issue" by some OCZ person unless it is to give me a refund or offer a replacement of a different drive (ANYTHING besides this lemon - even a...
Pros: Fast before it dies on you. Corrupts data gracefully - you know something is wrong before your computer doesn't boot as strange things begin to happen.
Cons: I have had this now since February 2010. When I say "had", it really means that I have had 3, and am waiting for the 4th to arrive. Total time in my two systems was less than half of that due to the time spent returning dead/corrupting drives. Main system was a MBP. As others state, boot/restore times are amazing. Then your data corruption begins. . . First one lasted about 3 weeks before I started to see problems. "Not a big issue" said I. "I have backups and I reall...
Pros: Fast, cheaper than other ssds at the time, enough storage for os and a few games.
Cons: Corruption prone, rma the drive and received another corruption prone drive. Had to destructive flash the drive and it still corrupts/freezes. Very annoying. Have to pay to send in drives for rma and then you do not have a drive to use/then I do not get to use my computer for 1-2 weeks.
