OCZ Octane Review

maximum pc
28 May 2012
  • Summary: The biggest problem with the OCZ Octane is Samsung’s 830 Series, which is available in the same capacities (aside from the Octane’s unmatched 1TB model), is faster in every single benchmark, and is cheaper than the Octane—by $100, at the 512GB capacity. The Octane has more-than-reasonable performance and we like the fact that it has the new Indilinx controller, but given its price and the existence of cheaper, better alternatives, it’s not the best bang for your buck.
  • Pros: New controller, plenty of cache; decent speeds; strong writes.
  • Cons: Low random IOPS; not the best value.

OCZ Octane (512GB)

PC Magazine
22 February 2012
  • Conclusion: The OCZ Octane (512GB) solid-state drive marks the reunion of OCZ and Indilinx, and is a fine performer in many situations—if not during intense writing tasks.
  • Pros: Very good performance.
  • Cons: Expensive. Not routinely faster than competing drives. Has trouble with high-queue-depth writes.

OCZ Octane 128GB

NextHardware
11 February 2012

PC World
10 January 2012
  • Pros: Kurant ytelse.
  • Cons: Raskere SSD-er ikke noe dyrere.
