Conclusion: IMPORTANT: Although the rating and final score mentioned in this conclusion are made to be as objective as possible, please be advised that every author perceives these factors differently at various points in time.
Summary: I would describe the OCZ Agility 3 as the typical mid-range SATA 6 Gbps SSD. It offers a decent 10% performance upgrade over "old" Sandforce based drives which support only the 3 Gbps interface. Compared to the more expensive Vertex 3 Series, we see a performance reduction of 10% again.
Pros: Good performance, SATA 6 Gbps support, Supports TRIM, 3 year warranty, Nice looking, rugged metal case, 3.5" adapter included
Cons: Only 10% faster than 3 Gbps SSDs, Needs SATA 6 Gbps controller to perform best, Can not win price/performance
Summary: Final Thoughts
Just like in the case of previous versions, the Agility 3 is the little brother to the
. While both drives use the same controller the Agility 3 uses “cheaper” 25nm NAND chips.
Pros: – Great performance, – Price compared to the Vertex 3, – 3 year warranty
Excerpt: 16 Flares 16 Flares × This month we have seen the release of a handful of ultra fast Solid State Drives, and Kitguru has been on hand to review them in recent weeks. Today we are looking at the latest drive from market leader OCZ, the Agility 3 240GB.
