Summary: I purchased this drive from Tiger Direct in December 2012 to put in my Mac Mini server, replacing one of the two internal drives. Boot times went from 6min (with all apps I use open and all working tabs open - we get power blips a lot) down to 59s. It reboots faster than our router can reconnect to FiOS after a blip. I have not yet had a single fault, OS X curtain, or read/write error, and I'm a super-power user.
Summary: Installed it in my 24" imac. Works like a charm and the difference is simply unbelievable. My imac only has SATAII so I'm obviously not pushing the SSD to its limit and can't compare it well to other SATAIII drives.
Summary: After the motherboard loaded, it took just 12 or so seconds... to not only get on my desktop, but to open chrome and login into my email (perhaps being on windows 8 makes it slightly quicker, I can't really say since I didn't have 7 on the SSD) Managed to get a 240GB refurbished for $160, the bigger programs on my PC like 3ds Max open atleast twice as fast ( and i'm sure for those who have it know that it takes its sweet time to load up ) As a tip, don't play with raid...
Summary: Any reviews giving it 1 star due to bsod are now irrelevant. FW 2.15 and higher have completely fixed the bsod issue. I have 2 120gb of these running in RAID0 and getting almost 1gb/s read & write.
Summary: Easy to install, working great now for a couple months, just be sure to re-assign your internal drive as the startup drive after copying your system to the SSD externally, then when you switch out the drives the new SSD inside will boot quickly. Otherwise the system looks for the external drive to boot from and this takes a lot more time and defeats the purpose of having the fast-loading SSD...
Summary: I was thinking if I should get this or the Patriot Wildfire. Then I saw OCZ just released Firmware v2.15 which is a major firmware fix which is supposed to fix many issues and most of the BSODs. So I got this. Amazon already has the SSDs in stock with v2.15 on board, a I learned when I got it. Hooked it in, works great as a secondary. Went ahead and put Windows 7 on it and it still works awesomely. Everything loads instantly compared to my year old Caviar Black WD.
Summary: OK, let's start by addressing the other reviews. One: BSOD hasn't been a problem for months, it was a firmware issue, it has been fixed. This drive is rock solid stable. Two: Mr. "25 years in IT" might need to hit the books. I've got 10 years in IT, and upgrading the firmware is far simpler than described. If you boot off the SSD, and need to upgrade the drive's firmware, you defintely DO NOT need to install Windows on another drive.
