Nice fast controller and IOPS to.

Summary: Wanted to use this for just Microsoft Windows 8.1 install. But; many things I installed filled the 120 gig space up very fast. Use it in my new computer as second drive, About a month after I bought it Vertex 4 came out, then 'Barefoot controller' came out.
Summary: I just purchased two of these drives; Both shipped with the latest (10/05/12 - 2.25) firmware, which has long since resolved the problems which troubled this drive. Don't be afraid of the one star reviews, the drive is now problem-free. If you're looking for the latest and greatest, this isn't it. If you're looking for a good deal to spruce up an aging computer, this is a great deal ($90 currently).
Summary: Got one a few weeks ago. Loving it! I stuck it in a portable case to use for large file transfers over USB, so far it's much faster than key chain flash drives and older portable drives. As for sticking it in a PC it worked on a few and the various laptops required some Bios tweaks. If you just shove it in you will probably have issues. Write down you Bios settings before switching over. Check the boards to see how others got your brand of drive to work.
Summary: I was a bit scared before buying this, since I read all about BSODs and such. I installed it, and after a day Windows 7 x64 started freezing on me (but no BSOD). I read around the forums a bit, and discovered that you need to alter a couple of settings to get it to run reliably. You need to: 1) Enable Hot Plugging for the sata channel where you installed your Vertex 3.
Summary: It's not lightning fast, but better than a mechanical drive. I get an average of 280 MB read/write on my Linux laptop. I was hoping that my Win7 VMs would boot super fast, but I can't really tell any difference. It's way better than the Seagate 500GB XT with 4GB NAND. That has been a disappointment from day 1 (even after firmware upgrades.) That drive only benches at 87 MB. Even a standard Seagate 7200 benches at around 110 MB.
Summary: This will a quick subjective review of the drive. The retail package comes with the drive, bracket for 3.5in bay mount, and the necessary screws. SATA cable is not included so make sure you have a spare. Maximum performance is best achieved on motherboards with native SATA3 support, like Intel's Sandy Bridge chipset or newer. Solid state drives are still pricey, but it is worth the investment. With a SSD, you will notice significant performance increase for all tasks.
Summary: First I like to say this drive is very fast. Boot, load, and install times are 5 times faster compared to the Western Digital Black 1TB Hard drive that I had in it. I was exciting to get this especially from reading all the great reviews and awesome spec. I installed windows 7 home premium on it and it completed in about 2 minutes. I click to install went to the bathroom came back and it was done. Checked my bios and it was already on ACHI and trim is on.
