Worked well for a month
2 February 2014
Summary: Worked well for a month then failed. OCZ were MOST UNHELPFUL with warranty, received it back after a couple of months, NOT FIXED. Very disappointed... Have been buying INTEL since then...... no failures, no problems. Note... Other OCZ SSD's that I have are working OK.
Summary: I had one of these for about a year. I restored a Windows 7 x64 disk image from a few days previous and the SSD failed catastrophically. The PC would not even get past the BIOS recognition of the SSD. Unplugged it, put the image on a mechanical hard drive and all was well. Except for the drive, which was RMA'd. Fast forward to three months later, new example of the same drive with latest firmware. Exact same thing happened.
Summary: I have a 2012 13" MacBook Pro (OS X 10.8.3) and I bought the 240GB Vertex 3Max IOPS SSD drive for it. Firmware is latest version with 2.25. Besides random freezes and reboots, I can consistently get a forced reboot just by connecting an external drive to it and doing a file transfer. This will cause OS X to kernel panic and eventually the disk permissions will become corrupt and I am forced to erase and reimage my MacBook.
Summary: I want to make this short. Anyone considering buying this SSD please don't. PLEASE SAVE YOURSELF from nightmare I have gone trough! It was working really fine until 2 weeks, I suddenly started getting bsod and random freezes. I have sent this to OCZ who sent me brand new drive and the new drive exactly the same thing. I used professional eraser to format the disc and put to another computer after 2 days its all same thing bsod.
Summary: This product is as bad as everyone says it is, and OCZ should pull it from the market. It doesn't matter what version of the firmware you have 2.02, 2.06, whatever, it just BSOD's all the time. I used Patriot and Intel instead when it made me so made I wanted to hurl my newly built PC out of the window ... and they were both as solid as a rock.
Summary: Like everyone said do not buy this ssd every day i get bsod/freezing ocz blames us ,delete forum posts again don't buy a sanforce 2**** drive especially from Ocz corsair having this problems also but they don't blame their customers and do not delete forum posts and taking this issues Seriesly
OCZ Vertex 3 SSD Does Not Support Easy Firmware Updates - Do Not Buy!!!

Summary: Let me start out by saying that I am in IT and have over 25 years of professional experience in working with and maintaining computers. I purchased this OCZ Vertex 3 120Gb MAX IOPS SSD drive from Amazon last week. Although the drive so far has worked fine, I have found out after purchasing it that OCZ's latest Toolbox (Version 2.36) does not support a firmware update to the primary boot drive.
BSOD and freezes, new firmware helps but there's a catch...

Summary: I bring you this review after almost 2 months of ownership. So everything worked great for the first couple months of use. Then all of the sudden I noticed freezes and bsod, neither of which I had ever gotten on this system before. I started researching the issue and realized that this ssd is the cause. OCZ put out a new firmware in Oct 2011 (ver 2.15) which supposedly fixes the issue for many people (not all, look at their forum) however there's a catch...
VERTEX 3 BSOD Blue screen of death should be the official Name

Summary: Length:: 0:23 Mins I get BSOD everyday with VERTEX 3 which is a story that VERTEX 3 Users share, after a full month of OCZ being in denial about the issue they finally did admit that the BSOD is a serious issue they are facing right now, they had to admit it because everyday there are few threads about the BSOD issue in their forums EVEN after they try to delete/edit/ban users who talk about the BSOD it was out of control so they were forced to knowledge the issue ,...
Summary: PROS: Crazy fast. . . . WHEN it works. CONS: This drive is incredibly unstable. Depending upon the firmware upgrade, I've either gotten freezes, BSOD's, or a multitude of memory errors from my various applications. (At least 8 or 9 times a day.) Particularly when running hi-def video resolutions. This is completely unacceptable in a consumer product. I've done two different installs.
