Runs great until it doesn't

Salvador C., Newegg
16 April 2015
  • Summary: I've had this hard drive in my system for about 4 months as my only storage, and today it utterly failed without warning. Getting a manufacturer replacement.
  • Pros: Standard SSD Pros
  • Cons: None to speak of

BILL, Amazon
23 March 2015
  • Summary: The kit is great. But what they do not tell you is the software only works if your laptop has an INTERNAL DVD. Mine being a newer unit with no internal DVD, the software would not allow you to choose the external DVD for the boot and copy.

Good at first

James S., Newegg
10 March 2015
  • Summary: I will try completely reformatting it and using it again when I have a chance to have a down system for a day or two (and feel like going through all the junk associated with re-installing Win7, etc.)
  • Pros: Fast. Kingston Brand. 3 Year warranty.
  • Cons: After a few months of use as a main drive, it randomly freezes the computer. Updated drivers, etc.. did all the adjustments to get it to stop, but it still freezes the system randomly. Removed it and put in the old Samsung 128Gb it replaced, and the freezing is gone, so I know it is this Kingston...

Rene L., Newegg
1 March 2015
  • Summary: If you are looking to improve an old PC and give you more speed, silence etc and you do not want to pay more for a faster drive this drive can do the job but if you are looking for a performance drive, ultra fast drive , go with an intel or a samsung and pay more you will not be dissapointed with a...

Software a dud

Hoosier Guy, Amazon
28 February 2015
  • Summary: I bought this to upgrade my Dell desktop (Inspiron 570). I purchased the bundle, thinking it would make installation easier. I did not really need the hardware included except for the SATA data cable.

For desktop installation REQUIRES a second internal hard drive bay ...

R. Bowers, Amazon
7 December 2014
  • Summary: For desktop installation REQUIRES a second internal hard drive bay. Not all desktop PCs have a second drive bay. My Lenovo Think Centre only has one drive bay. Other products attach the new SSD drive externally with USB cable. Also, open the CD directory and search for English instructions.

too slow for ssd

James H., Newegg
6 November 2014
  • Summary: I knew the reviews showed mixed performance depending on the version received. When I received an even newer version I was excited. That did not last long. This drive is nothing like I expected for speed.
  • Pros: This drive was a snap to install and format on my Imac and easy to add Trim capabilities. It runs cool and is of course quiet.
  • Cons: Forget the 450 Mb/s write and read. After downloading Blackmagic and checking, with and without Trim turned on, all I could get was 118 Mb/S Write and 120 Mb/s Read. I then compared this to my old spin type hard drive. The old drive only averaged 20 Mb/S, so yes, it is six times faster than the s...
