Excerpt: I ended up getting this ssd because my laptop had stopped working and the tech had suggested that getting this new driver would be the same price as doing an install and diagnosis of what is wrong with laptop and it would make laptop work that much faster. I don't know that I have noticed that much of an increase in speed of the laptop. If it wasn't for the "special" they were offering I would not have purchased it.
Summary: Be sure you are comfortable cloning your existing hard drive (including the boot record). It helps to pare down the files on your hard disk (i.e. move off data files, music, photos, video, etc. BEFORE doing the clone to be sure the total size fits onto the SSD.
Summary: The original SSD in my computer (a Crucial 64GB SSD) began to fail, so I bought this Kingston drive bundle to clone and replace it. The included CD is bootable, which was very important to my installation since my original SSD often crashed shortly after booting. This made installation very easy--I simply plugged the new Kingston drive into a data cable and power line for my second drive, booted from the CD, and used the included software to "clone" the dying drive.
Summary: I am using this drive with the older SATA 2 controller so I may be getting only have the performance the drive is capable of but it makes a significant difference in how quickly my machine boots and how fast applications launch.
Summary: I made this purchase with a little bit of risk, i didn't know exactly about the retro-compability between SATA I and SATA III but after reading a lot about this & implementing this disk on my Sony Vaio Laptop VPCCW21FX i'm sure it's not a problem to use it in a SATA I disk port. You can use all the bandwidth of SATA I (150 MB/s) despite some hard disk have the same bandwith (on SATA I), this SSD have the advantage of the writing speed and the low latency in the data...
Summary: In addition to boot and shutdown times being reduced, I have noticed the time to open applications to be quicker as well. My laptop boots in under 20 seconds. This is the largest improvement overall. I do notice a few seconds improvement in opening word and excel.
