The SSDNow V-Series 64Gb SSD from Kingston produced what I would call acceptable performance. The results from our read/write tests were average, but consistant. It is what Kingston had intended ... to produce a During our Everest disk test, the average linar read speed was 101.3MB/sec, while the average write speed was 82.5Mb/sec. So in that respect, it had performed better than what the specifications had stated ... 100Mb/sec:Read, 80Mb/sec:Write. Read more

The Kingston SSDNow V Series 64GB isn't the fastest drive on the market and compared to hard drives it's still expensive for its capacity. However, it does provide adequate performance and for around £100 is an absolute bargain compared to many SSDs. Read more

What are SSDs? NO... it's not a disease! SSD stands for Solid State Drive. It's a computer hard drive that comes in a 2.5" form factor, however there are NO moving parts. Most SSDs are shock-proof and offer much longer life than standard mechanical hard drives (with moving/spinning parts). Check out the photos below. The reviewer also produced some benchmark tests. I cloned my hard drive onto this SSD with no sweat. One thing that was disappointing was that it took longer for my Macbook Pro to boot than when it had the drive from the factory. So far there's not been a problem, but getting the disk to fit into the bay took a couple of tries. I expected it to be simpler than it was, but then I'm not an IT guy (just like computers, that's all). Read more

Liking it a whole lot, going to be throwing into my new build based on an ASUS 980a SLI EVO AM3 board, hopefully this enhances SSD, I don't know but would imagine new architecture would improve drive performance, or at least latency times slightly. Read more

    • -Relatively cheap
    • -Not the quickest SSD out there, reflective in price though

I purchased this item to give an old Macbook a little more oomph. Sure the space is limited but most of the work I do is saved to either a time machine disk or some other external drive. It is kind of odd to fire up my old mac, in record time I might add, without the usual whirring and whine of a hard disk. The heat is reduced and overall battery life has increased. Read more
