Do not buy this or any Kingston SSD. Period.

L. B. Glass, Amazon
17 April 2013
  • Summary: We bought half a dozen of these drives, and as they were put into use we found that every one failed after 4-6 months. Every single one. They were not used heavily and were placed in different machines, so the problem was clearly in the drives. The first time, we thought it was a fluke.

Works on my home vmware server

J. Sundquist, Amazon
7 May 2012
  • Summary: I bought this drive to use as a boot drive for my vmware Vshpere 5 server that I built using an HP Pavilion PC. I was a bit worried since some other reviews report theirs dying over time, but since vmware doesn't hold any data other than OS files and wouldn't be hard to reinstall, I decided to give...

Fast, Small, Quiet, but breaks

s0rce, Amazon
8 December 2011
  • Summary: I've had 5 of these drives and 3 have failed within 6 months. These were early 002 revisions and kingston claims to have fixed the problem. They are at revision 025 now. Support has always been top notch and RMA process painless, however, I would be wary of using these.

30 seconds = my avg boot time into Vista now

Brian, Amazon
4 November 2011
  • Summary: My needs are very simple and a 16gb ssd is all I need for my OS drive. My storage data rests on a spinner while this cool, quiet, fast lil baby operates the brains of my system.

Great for running an OS for a NAS or other embedded system.

Matt H, Amazon
20 September 2011
  • Summary: I ordered this to run my OS for my new NAS box and it works great. Low power and durability are what I was looking for. I also thought I was buying it used, but it came new in the package, so a little extra bonus there. No surprises = happy customer.

Died after 3 months

Ian Finley, Amazon
19 August 2011
  • Summary: Installed this drive in my HTPC. It is really fast but after 3 months it started having enough errors to make the machine extremely unstable. This was a boot/OS drive and did not contain any data, so it was not working really hard or being subjected to undue read/write cycles.

Great for a small Netbook XP-32 installation

Ole Steen Larsen "OSL", Amazon
25 June 2011
  • Summary: SSDNow S100 16GB works great for a small Netbook XP-32 installaton. Fast reads (especially for 4K) gives great XP-32 performance. Somewhat slower writes has no slowing effect. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- CrystalDiskMark 3.0.1 (C) 2007-2010 hiyohiyo Crystal...

Faster but not for Windows 7

Jan Glimpse "mark glimpse", Amazon
15 June 2011
  • Summary: This hard drive is pretty slick. I have a G73JW Asus gaming laptop and I stuck it in there with my 500 GB and rebooted the system onto the solid state. Only one problem you wont be able to install all the windows updates so the OS will always be slightly behind.

So far so good

Bruce Murray On Travel "Murray On Travel", Amazon
28 May 2011
  • Summary: This has been running non-stop as the main drive on an Intel Atom based system running Win XP. No problems after several weeks. Attached and was recognized just like a rotating drive.
