SSD newbie

Mike A., Amazon
15 February 2014
  • Summary: The boot time is quick when it works. For some reason the bios keeps dropping it from the boot sequence quite often and i would have to do a cold start to boot the computer. It happens everytime he computer sits idle for extended periods of time. It's a new build: Asus Crosshair VI Formula Z, FX-9370 cpu, 16gb G.Skill 1600 ram, Intel 530 240gb SSD, WD 1TB hd, Gigabyte 4gb R9 270X gpu, Thermaltake 1050w psu, Thermaltake Level 10 case and Win 7 Pro 64bit.

  • Summary: They were at a good price for a B&M store. There are much faster SSD's out right now, particularly the Samsung drives, but this is working fine for me...
  • Pros: It's an SSD
  • Cons: There are much faster SSD's available

  • Summary: This is much slower than expected, even with the latest firmware (DC12). I am getting around 200 mbps write speed, and 260mbps read speed. Disappointed, as I was expecting around 500mbps.
  • Pros: More responsive system, if you are upgrading from hard drive.
  • Cons: Speed is much lower than expected, even with the latest firmware - I am getting around 200 mbps write speed, and 260mbps read speed. Disappointed, as I was expecting around 500mbps.
