Summary: Did not arrive in it's original packaging, or with the warranty information and did not bring the screws for the black adapter it has on top. Writes are lower than advertised at157mb/s, Reads are 447, while Specs At the intel website say Sustained Sequential Read: Up to 550 MB/s Sequential Write: Up to 520 MB/s. [...
Summary: I bought this drive primarily because it was at a discount. At full price, this drive is definitely not worth it as the Intel 520 series is about a 3 year old product now (as of 2014). SSD technology has advanced quite a bit in the last 2 years. Potential buyers do a bit of research on the 520 series as it uses a Sandforce controller which performs particularly bad with data that can't be compressed. Greatly effecting the drives performance.
Summary: I installed this drive on my 2012 MBP i7 in December 2012. it lasted exactly 1.5 years before crashing and becoming unreadable. Luckily I had a backup of my system. For the time the drive rand it performed admirably, albeit a bit slow and towards the end of its life it began to crash the machine more and more. I expected better from Intel, but I remember the price vs performance being very competitive at the time.
Summary: This by far beats any normal hard drive but when it comes to preformance and relaibilty compared to other drives this is not something you should look at read speeds at 400mbs and write at 220mbs not as advertised.
Summary: Might have a DOA one. Has various issues. Sometimes it takes over 1 minute to load windows 8. Other times it boots under 8 seconds. Out of hibernation i have a windows 8 loading screen frozen,, not always but has done it a few times. Performance could be better. AS SSD Benchmark (Tested on MSI Z77A-GD65 Sata 3 port 6GBps) Read Write Seq: 491.66 / 179.03 4k: 21.29 / 52.20 4k-64Thrd: 138.37 / 157.99 Acc.
Pros: - Comes with mounting Bracket, - Comes with Screws, - Fast boot times, - 5 year Warranty
Cons: - Drive is having issues on windows 8 pro fresh install., - Occasionally real slow boot times over a minute., -
Summary: I bought this to get a larger SSD drive on my older Dell. I had an 80gb Intel Esata II installed. My Dell can only support Esata II. The first Intel 120 I received could not be formatted and needed to be sent back. The second one was ok, but it has a slightly lower score on the Windows Experience Index than my original 80gb.
Summary: I extensively tested and benhmarked the Samsung 830 128GB SSD versus Intel 520 120GB SSD, and also now own a Samsung 830 512GB SSD purchased on Amazon.com. My test results revealed a number of surprises, which are not noted in any reviews I could find from others. First, SSD performance is affected by the laptop's (host's) power scheme and whether it is plugged in; the best performance occurs when the laptop is plugged in!
Summary: Much much faster than my old X25-M 80GB that I replaced for this. Still, read / write speeds aren't close to what is advertised - 3even though the advertised speeds indicate UP TO 500 MB/sec Seq read / write speeds. I'm getting (420 / 180) (read / write) speeds according to CrystalDiskMark. I have ACHI enabled in BIOS, which upped my speeds, but it's still not close to what others are reporting on the Net by using the same drive and same benchmark utility.
Pros: Very Fast, 5 year warranty, plug it in and it works - no screwing around with it
Summary: This review is difficult to write as my experiences with this drive to date have been mixed. The first drive I received died after 40 minutes of use. I was preparing it for use in a 2009 MacBookPro and had it connected via a SATA to USB adaptor. At the time it died it was not doing anything - the existing drive was being partitioned, the SSD was powered on only. The SSD then simply stopped and killed the Disk Utility that was running on the other disk.
Pros: Very fast, comes with a bracket for 3.5inch installation, virtually silent, 5 year warranty from Intel
