Intel ssd

Christopher L., Newegg
4 October 2012
  • Summary: Disapointed with intel
  • Pros: Fast when it works.
  • Cons: I waited to post on this ssd not knowing if it would last or not. It lasted 1 year! Dead!! For the price I paid, it should of lasted way longer.

Not reliable, but good speed

Jonathan H., Newegg
6 April 2012
  • Summary: Intel's RMA process is nice though. This and the speed is the only reason it isn't getting lower eggs.
  • Pros: The drive is quick. No doubt about it. Especially when you come from a conventional drive like I did. I tested a vertex 3 and liked it and I really couldn't tell much of a difference between the two on my marvell controller (which is already limited by it's single pci express bus). Windows 7 64 b...
  • Cons: So here is my biggest con... I went with intel because it was supposed to be a reliable drive right? You even pay a bit of a premium over the sandforce controllers because of intel's robust testing practices. Well in this case I must have extremely rotten luck because now I am on my 3 drive in le...

Not bad, but not better than competition

Nikhil N., Newegg
18 December 2011
  • Summary: I think this ssd was released too early, before intel had finished their own sata3 controller, which will hopefully perform better than this marvell. Still waiting for good Trim support too.
  • Pros: mid range drive, good random read/write performance. it's an ssd of course it will be fast. its (mostly) made by intel.
  • Cons: Intel is still using a Marvell controll for this. You can really see if underperformance when you compare it to others.

INTEL'S THE BESTEST

KAMEL K., Newegg
28 September 2011
  • Summary: Meh, try your luck with Vertex because these are on the slower side for that price.
  • Pros: Intel has the least chance of dying of all SSDs. They don't die often compared to OCZ, ADATA, or Crucial.
  • Cons: Specs say Read max 450MB and 210MB write. I have them in SATA 3 and they under preform at 234MB and and 140MB write. I thought it was pretty weak. Overpriced for its performance.

SSD gives false failure message

Michael F., Newegg
15 August 2011
  • Summary: I posted ealier that after 50 days the SSD failed and was posting "Data Integrity Scan Failure." Intl said the unit had failed and needed to be replaced. In preparing to send in the SSD, I discovered why the SSD was giving this "false" failure message.
  • Pros: Faster performance than HDD, but it's new technology and still exploring nuances.
  • Cons: Expensive.

Works well in Dell machine, but a no go in a new Macbook Pro 13

dtaylor, Amazon
7 August 2011
  • Summary: I purchased two of these, one for a Dell T3500 Workstation which only had sata revision II and one for a newer thunderbolt Macbook Pro 13 2.7Ghz which was supposed to be able to handle sata revision III @ 6GB/s. I quickly learned of the issues with the Intel and Macbook Pro 13. [...] [...

Doesn't work on MacBook Pro 5.4 (2009)

Dmitry T, Amazon
6 June 2011
  • Summary: So far I've seen issues reported for MacBook Pro 2011 models only. Though I also have issues on my MacBook Pro 5.4 (2009): 1. Intel 510 SSD constantly freezes (beachball problem) 2. Disk utility shows the directory is damaged and it can't repair it. 3. Disk Warrior either: .a.

Well built

Paul F., Newegg
23 May 2011
  • Summary: I purchase this drive based on Intel's reputation for high SSD reliability. Time will tell if this holds true.
  • Pros: Great build quality - better materials and finish than my OCZ drive. Nice software tools included - quality software for migration and OS setup available from Intel.
  • Cons: Expensive. Good, not great performance - within windows performance, this drive scored a couple tenths lower than the last gen. OCZ drive it replaced(Agility 2 120GB).

Intel SSD 510 250GB caro

Rodrigo88m, Ciao
27 April 2011
  • Cons: caro
