Summary: I bought 7 of these and the first two I installed crystaldisk pro show that they have both been used at least two years! I'm calling tomorrow to get satisfaction, I use Amazon all the time with no complaint and they may not be aware that this is a scam!
Summary: After 5 months , all of my data has to be wiped off. You can read the data on the drive 3 items at a time before it will crash. You can not copy or delete anything with out a crash, and it does not have a WARRENTY. Hitachi told me to return it to the seller. This was a waste a money!!!
Summary: I ordered 8 of these drives: over 1300 bucks. Amazon shipped them LOOSE in a cardboard box that would have been the right size for ONE drive if packed properly. But, Amazon had put all 8 BARE drives in that one box. The one and only "air cushion" had punctured, so the only remaining cushion was the packing slip. The drives were just flopping around loose in the box! These are Hitachi ENTERPRISE class drives. They should be very reliable.
Summary: I received this harddrive and when I plugged it in it made horrific grinding noise and then just stopped. I tried multiple times and it would not work. I returned the item and was willing to try a replacement but after 3 weeks I've had no response from seller. I've filed a claim with Amazon.
Summary: I purchased 5 of these drives to use in a QNAP NAS. Two of the drives were dead on arrival. Two more failed within the first week. In the past I have always liked Hitachi drives, but either these batch was bad or their quality control has greatly decreased.
Summary: I bought this drive to replace a Western Digital 1TB green drive. I had read about Hitachi reliability, and wanted something that I could rely on. At first the drive seemed to work properly. I installed Windows 7 and AVG. After a few hours the computer froze up and I could not reboot, S.M.A.R.T. status was BAD. So I returned that one for a replacement. The second drive worked for about 24 hours before becoming unbootable. Same status BAD. I am returning it for a refund.
Summary: Always trusted Hitachi disk drives in the past, but was disappointed when I ordered 4 of them and 1 was DOA. Amazon does a great job of handling returns so can't fault Amazon, but not happy that I got a 25% failure rate right out of the box, especially for an enterprise class drive. Packaging was good so I don't think that was the problem.
