Summary: I ordered this 640 GB drive because it was value priced and was made by Hitachi (as is the 320 GB drive in my Lenovo Z560)and it sold for less than some similar 500 GB drives. It appears to be new OEM surplus, made in Thailand in June of 2012, and is exactly what the seller advertised. The supplier was ULTRA Computers, which shipped very quickly via USPS Priority Mail. I arrived 2 days faster than the earliest expected receipt date.
Summary: Standard Hitachi drive, fast, quiet, and the right dimensions for all standard 2.5in SATA HDD applications. Large capacity is far more then I have directly needed on my laptop for the past 10 yrs.
Summary: I got this as a storage drive for my itx build and I'm impressed with how fast it is for a 5400rpm drive. When I write files to it i've seen it go up to 300mb/sec. and down to about 50mb/sec., but it averages around 100mb which I think is very impressive. I just hope it lasts. I'll update my review if it crashes or something goes wrong, but right now I love it.
Summary: Just a quick word of warning for those planning to use this as a PS3 upgrade hard drive - It does NOT work with the older "fat" PS3s. It only works with the newer slim PS3s. On a "fat" PS3, it begins the initial autoformat, then the system shut restarts midway, but the system will be frozen and unusable. At that point, if you remove the hard drive, enclose it in an external case, and access it from a computer, it will only show 196 GB of space, despite being brand new!
Infrequent but *loud* popping noises in idle operation.

Summary: I have to say I am displeased with my Hitachi 0J11563 (HTS547575A9E384) even though it works. The application is primary hard disk in a Dell Latitude E6410 laptop. When I'm busy on the machine it's mostly all right, however if I step away from it for a moment it makes infrequent but annoying popping sounds. They are loud enough to hear over anything else I might be doing. It is quite unsettling when it occurs while I'm working at the laptop, which is less frequent.
Summary: I realize any hard drive can fail but this is the first notebook drive I have ever had that went south in under 3 months. I had several system hangs on my macbook that I never experienced with the factory drive starting about a month after installing it. Drive checks would find nothing wrong so I figured it was either poorly written software or perhaps I had a RAM chip going bad. Then yesterday the drive started to click and the computer froze.
Wonder whether the amount of noise depends on hard drive orientation ?

Summary: I initially put the hard drive in a 2.5" USB enclosure so that I could copy across my Linux system from the old drive to this new drive. The drive seemed to make a lot of noise during access and was noisy parking the heads. The 2.5" USB enclosure was lying with the drive horizontal. So I was a bit concerned when I put the drive into my laptop.
Summary: I recently bought this Hard Drive to upgrade my PS3 about a week ago. It had a 250GB HD in it from when I bought it, but I found that I needed more space. This HD fit perfectly into the HD tray in the PS3, and was very easy to install. It hasn't given me any problems so far!
Summary: This is a good drive, BUT... OS Lion does not recognize this drive. I had to go to the Apple genius bar for them to correctly format it. It only took them like five minutes, but still a hassle. It does make a louder sound when operating but isn't too distracting unless you are watching a movie. I expected about 750Gb of memory but for some reason it capped out at about 650! To physically install, it took about 5 minutes with the right tools though.
Summary: Hi The Hitachi Travelstar 2.5-Inch 750 GB 5400RPM SATA II 8 MB Cache Internal Hard Drive 0J11563 is A great option to upgrade your playstation 3 hard drive. I switched my 60gb HDD and i'm very happy with it, works great, no lags, almost no noise.
