Summary: Not as quiet as I would have liked for a home theater PC, but fast enough to record 4 different TV programs at once (a mix of high-def and standard-def) without missing a beat. If I needed to, I'd buy another without hesitation.
Summary: My experience with Hitachi (used to be IBM) drives has not been as pleasant as those with Seagate or Western Digital, but this 3TB monster is by far the cheapest and biggest drive on the market. Its slowness is not much an issue as I plan to use it for large data storage only.
Summary: I bought 4 of these for a RAID6 array. 1 of the 4 was DOA and Amazon replaced it no questions asked. Hopefully they will be reliable long term. I ran them for a about a week doing some burn-in tests and they have now been in production use for a couple weeks.
