Great 4TB hard drive

Summary: This is my third Ultrastar A7K4000 hard drive and I am using them in a HD surveillance system with eight cameras so I need the 12TB to get a decent amount of recording time. I bought my first one on December 1st, 2014 and all three are running quietly with no errors.
Summary: I bought this because Hitachi seems a sure bet for reliability. Hopefully, that will extend to this drive. I did a full format, installed it in my WHS 2011, and it's doing it's job, replacing yet another failed Seagate.
Beware before you order. Read reviews, appear to be repackaged.

Summary: Received drives and noticed not in HGST box or metalized grey antistatic bag that has label on it, but Oceanside Box. Looked through their antistatic bag and saw a manufacturer date of OVER ONE YEAR OLD! I have bought these drives before through other vendor that came in HGST Box.
Summary: I have a mix of Seagate and Western Digital. This HGST 4TB drive was on sale so I picked 3. I wish I had bought more. The 4TB Seagate drives failed before the warranty ran out so I got replacements. I have lost a couple of 4TB Western Digitals also. But I have not lost a single HGST.
Summary: I like these Hitachi drives. I have 3 others and haven't had anything but good performance from all of them. Reliability is a must for me because I tend to be tough on drives and while I know this is basically a WD product, I've had better luck with the Hitachi brand.
