"Have great working quality, but kind of noisy."
7 June 2013
Pros: As said above, it's fast, reliable, and durable. I dropped it once, and it worked all well. it's very sturdy as well.
Cons: But it was been noisy even before I dropped it, and it's noisy in same way after I've dropped it. It have this 'scratching' sound whenever it's reading or writing something on HDD, and it's noisy enough to get me notice it every time.
Summary: I purchased this about a month ago for use as a back-up drive. It's the same as the HDD that came with my computer. It was easy to install and it works perfectly so far. . I have not experienced the clicking noise that some have complained about. I am satisfied wiith my HDS721010CLA332 and would recommend it to others.
Summary: I purchased two of these Hard Drives for a computer that I built. I got two of them so that I could use them as a RAID 1 (mirror) set. Although I have purchased other drives from Amazon I got these at a retail store because I needed them "yesterday". I didn't notice much noise and the drives both work fine.
Great for Performance computers, not so much for HTPC (OOB anyways)

Summary: Fantastic drive for the price, cheaper here than other retailers. One small problem - The noise. Its fine if you have a performance computer, but not so much if you have a HTPC. Now this doesnt bug me much in my HTPC. And I don't really feel like running the tool mentioned in other reviews (I forget what its called). 1tb is more than enough for me. If I want more, I'll probably buy another one of these. Its actually pretty speedy for me coming from my laptop with an SSD.
Drive must be initialized, partitioned and formatted

Summary: This is not Plug and Play. Drive must be initialized, partitioned and formatted. I just received two of these and they do not come formatted in order to work. 1 TB formatted is 935 gb. If you stick this in an external enclosure or inside your box, you must (on a PC) go into your Settings, Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Computer Management, to Disk Management, then select the drive, right click, initialize, then partition, which will start the format.
Good internal drive, but problematic with TT Blacx.

Summary: DO NOT USE WITH THERMALTAKE BLACX (eSATA/USB 2.0)docking bay. Good hard drive as other reviewers have pointed out. Its actually a pretty quiet hard drive (I think its actually quieter on spinup than my WD Eco Green 1.5TB drive). Problem is that I recently purchased the Thermaltake Blacx (esata + usb) hard drive enclosure. The Hitachi Deskstar just refuses to show up whichever connection I use.
Summary: I have been buying Hitachi hdd's since I read that Google uses them. I assume (hope) that this drive is as reliable as other Hitachi hdd's have been. This particular drive is noisier than all other recent drives I have bought, but I don't mind a bit a feedback to let me know what is going on in an almost subconscious way. I used HD Tune Pro to reduce the AAM value to 190, which provides just a tiny bit of "background" noise.
Summary: This replaced my HP computer(HP6230n) orginal HD which was giving SMART errors. Installtion was easy. minimum noice level. Only complaint is no software utility to disk mamagement from hitachi.
