DELL WD RE4 Specification

Grinding Teeth, Amazon
17 July 2012
  • Summary: High quality drives, ordered 4 (2 as spares) to match the 6 in our Dell T710 server and had to wait a long time due to the Bangkok floods as the WD factory was affected. Contrary to other reports these are the correct WD model RE4 drives with a Dell part number. All tested and perfectly. Recommend for these for long term reliability.

Not RE4 drives. RE3

DragonSat, Amazon
7 February 2012
  • Summary: As the previous person mentioned, mine have also now arrived. They are indeed RE3 drives, manufactured on Oct 2008. Entering the serial numbers into the WD drive registration site, offers an out of region warranty. What does that actually mean? Will they be replaced, and over what period. Be warned, not as advertised, but similar lower spec. For the most will be OK, but I am concerned over the reliability of these. Are they new? or re-certified.

Not New, Not even RE4 drives

The FofS, Amazon
3 February 2012
  • Summary: I ordered 4 of these to upgrade a NAS array(2 of which have arrived, other 2 Enroute). Ordered and after a month they began being dispatched, I was happy to wait considering the price of hard drives right now, and these were a good price, very good price. The drive actually delivered 1st was a WD1002FBYS, the older RE3 drive. With 32MB Cache and 3 platters of 333GB each, instead of the 1003FBYX with 64MB Cache and 2 x 500GB platters.
