Fast Performance from a "64GB" HDD
21 October 2011
Summary: I got this HDD to replace a faulty laptop drive. The performance is really fast; I was surprised at the performance boost, especially on OS and program start-up - I was expecting some, but not as much as the drive ended up giving me.
Summary: Sapphire Pure Fusion Mini AMD E-350 APU Kingston 4Gb DDR3 SoDimm Corsair Nova 32Gb SSD WD Green 1TB HDD Slim Blu Ray/DVD-RW Drive IN WIN BP655.200BL M-ITX Case w/ 200w PS Win 7 HP x64 Hauppauge HD PVR
Pros: I originally used this in my Wife's new ITX gaming box, and I have since removed it. It is now in my new AMD Zacate APU HTPC. AMD Fusion is not renowned for it's speed. What it is good for is high quality integrated GPU and low power draw. I decided to throw this in there to give it all the help ...
Cons: I pulled this from a previous build becuase I noticed no real-world difference between this and a 7200 RPM and 32 Mb Cache 320 Gb latpop hard drive. Benchmarks said otherwise, but I was concerned with ACTUAL performance. So I happened to have it lying around. It couldn't hold the Win 7 OS, as wel...
Summary: Good SSD for the price. Planning to get a faster SSD just because I want Windows to boot even faster. >=}
Pros: Installed Windows Ultimate x64 on it. Went pretty fast and enjoying the faster boot time. :) Don't forget to enable TRIM in Windows. ;)
Cons: No SATA cable No documentation The bracket that comes with it to fit in your 3.5" bay doesn't have the screw sides at the appropriate spot so it's just sitting there with 2 secured spots. It's ok unless I flip my computer upside down then the SDD will just flip upside down. Note that I have a Coo...
Summary: I bought 2 more (6 total now) in case I need 2 more for the array. In case I dont, ill just throw them in a dual external encloser set to RAID0 and run via esata for other purposes (virtual machines)
Pros: Good price ($75) and reliable. I originally bought 2 for a RAID 0 config (7.9 speed rating for windows 7 - the max). But then realized that 60 gig was barely enough. So I bought 2 more and added to the RAID array. I now have 4 in the striped setup and get about 800meg a second transfer, and .1 ms...
Cons: Support is not so great with the company. Just hope you dont have any issues.
Summary: Disabled hibernate, disabled indexing, moved /temp and moved the pagefile to a HDD: win7 ends up taking up 12GB. I have 18GB free, maybe I should try installing CS5 to it and seeing the performance gain. But overall, win7 starts-up and shuts-down at about the same speed as a caviar blue. Meh?
Pros: Very solid and small drive. Loaded Win7 64bit on it without any issues, gets a 7.0 rating.
Cons: Not really as fast as I was thinking. This is my first SSD and I really am not seeing that much of a overall speed boost, see other thoughts. Also, why the hell haven't storage manufacturers started adopting the correct usage for storage size? This 32GB is really 29.7GB. 1GB = 2^10 MB, NOT 10^3 MB
Summary: I was paranoid before that I only got 12gb left, but after reading some various sites via google, I found the best solution, and ironically, it's from Corsair's Blog, which really helped immensely. I tried to disable some Windows features as well to have a glaring total of 20gb.
Pros: My very first SSD from my SB set-up. It's very cheap and reliable. Such a shame that I didn't get the 10 dollar discount after the release of Sandy Bridge. Boots my Windows 7 in less than 15 seconds. So far so good, I've been using it since the 10th of January.
Cons: Ultra DMA CRC Error Count Status: Warning in HD Tune. 4 months and 28 days and counting is the estimated life of this SSD with SSD life. That's worse than having a regular HDD. But then again, I could RMA it with my 3-year warranty if it fails, right? RIGHT?

Summary: Price: well, ssd drives are not cheap! but this one is for what you get, corsair name, mounting kit, screws. I really enjoyed it and it was great, only problem was my motherboard and getting it to boot with ACHI enabled which is necessary for SSD optimization.
