Summary: This is just an interim review and really it is review of Dataplex. The packaged instructions tell you to write down the GUID (serial number or installation key) but this is not Step 1, but "before you start" so I missed it. You need this to download and run dataplex installer.
Summary: i now have a 30 gig ssd to do absolutely nothing with. SSD prices are dropping gonna get me a 240 gig this month.
Pros: when it works it helps a lot.
Cons: had issues in the first week after install, power went out and had to reload windows to get my system back up.ended up reloading windows 8 times after each power outage before i finally gave up on this product. The enclosed cache software worked as it should.but due to flaky local power service i e...
Summary: Bought this SSD cache drive to upgrade my Home Theter PC performance. After insalling the hardware, I proceeded to the website as instructed on the directions. During software installation received a warning that my Nvidia controller was not supported by the Dataplex software.
Summary: Remember to put your Sata controler to AHCI in the bios, it is very important if you don't want to be swearing later.
Pros: Without doing any benchmark, the speed seem very similar Vertex 3 in my laptop. Where you see it the most is in boot time. This ssd is inexpensive and seems perfect for my sata II computer. Took some time but got it working
Cons: All people that install this SSD should know that they have to put AHCI mode, IDE or PATA leads to corrupted partition after some time. I did a fresh ghost before installing the ssd and did I do a good move there ? No because after I got my data corrupted, I learned that ssd needs AHCI mode in th...
Summary: I really didn't do much homework before buying this device which did convince me that next time I get into a new area I should do my research and know what I am getting into.
Pros: Easy installation....as far as I know it worked fine and no problems. Price was right and the Manufacturer has a good reputation for making good products.
Cons: When I purchased this item the reviews were pretty good, but later when I was thinking of getting another I noticed a change in the rating. After reading many of the reviews I decided not to make the purchse...in fact it gave me cause to remove the one I had for my main computer. Some of the othe...
Summary: Make sure you keep the Dataplex software key handy. It's printed on the drive itself and nowhere else. Having a P67 board I was kinda envious of the Z68 boards , hardware-based SSD caching capabilites. Not wanting to buy a new board quite yet, I decided to give this a shot.
Pros: - Setup is very easy. Plug in the drive, download and run the software, and you're done - Cost is relatively low - Noticeable perfomance increase (reduced boot times, etc.)
Cons: Software isn't totally reliable. I had to unistall the software and reinstall after a just a few weeks of use. Apparently the caching software doesn't like certain programs, like some antivirus programs, and some backup utilities. If it has a problem, you'll have to unistall and reinstall the sof...
Summary: This is a bit of a luxury and not really a necessary product.
Pros: It speeds up the most frequently performed actions like booting and loading certain programs. I knew from reviews to write down the serial number ahead of time so hardware and software installation was fast and easy.
Cons: I also recently purchased a full ssd, not a supplement like this, and a regular ssd is the best thing available right now. This product doesn't match that standard.
Summary: After installing and setting up everything, I kept getting "CRITICAL CACHE FAILURE" error messages with the Dataplex software after about 10-15 minutes of use. Within a day it hard locked my computer and fried my Win7 install. After reinstalling Win7, installing the SSD ...
Pros: Win 7 boot time is drastically reduced. Applications just pop open. Load times for anything are ridiculously fast. Get the best of both the SSD world, and the HDD world. Very cheap (cost wise)!
Cons: Has serious issues with older nVidia chipsets, even after the 1.1.3 patch. Only can cache one physical drive. Only works in Win 7. Does not work well (at all?) with RAID. Only SATA2 not SATA3 No 2.5-3.5 adapter plate included. No SATA cable included. Serial Number for dataplex software is written...
Summary: I recently purchased the Corsair Accelerator Series 30gb SSD Cache Drive for my home computer and was of course curious exactly just how much it sped things up. So using the stopwatch feature on my phone (very professional) I timed a few actions before and after install.
