  • Summary: Fino a pochi anni fa gli HD hanno rappresentato l'unico vero collo di bottiglia delle piattaforme hardware per PC; infatti, a differenza dei processori, delle Ram e delle VGA che raddoppiavano la propria potenza nel giro di sei mesi o al massimo un anno, i dischi meccanici riuscivano ad evolversi  soltanto dal punto di vista della capacità, dei consumi o della silenziosità, ma quasi mai in maniera convincente dal punto di vista delle prestazioni.
