Summary: This humidifier is not worth the extra money I paid for it! I'm sorry I didn't consider the other negative reviews. 1) The unit is very loud when the fan is set on high. 2) I started using it on November 20th and have replaced the mineral cartridge twice. 3) The notice to change the cartridge doesn't go off after the cartridge has been replaced. 3) I have cleaned it twice, following the directions in the manual, and that notice never goes off either.
Summary: I own two of these units, and both have now stopped accurately measuring room humidity. My final authority on this is a digital Weather Station, which confirms that the Ultra 1 units are giving me wildly inflated humidity readings. This means I must either run the units 'Constant ON,' or not at all. The humidistats are NOT doing their jobs, and cannot be accessed for cleaning.
Decent humidifier, we'll see about how long it can last.

Summary: I bought this humidifier in early November after the air started getting cold. I need the humidity in the 50% region due a newborn, but with the heaters on, the humidity was diving into the 20s overnight, leaving everyone with dry skin and nose issues. We had a Vicks V5100NS, which was good enough to keep the humidity high (upper 60s and even 70s) when the heater was off, but it wasn't cutting it with the heater on, even with a second small humidifier (sharper image).
Summary: We just got our Vornado humidifier, and it has been running for about 3 days now. The instructions were pretty simple in order to operate the humidifier. However, I have never owned one before, so it doesn't give any recommendations on what to set it on. I just left it on the controls it was already on. I can already tell a difference in my air quality and I have 3 dogs!
