Excellent humidifier!

HDHPGH "hh99842", Amazon
25 March 2012
  • Summary: I really need a versatile humidifier durning the winter months and thought I'd give the one a try. After using it daily for over 4 months, I can officially say I am beyond pleased! The things I have enjoyed most about it are the adjustable nozzles, the hot/cold mist and how very quiet the unit is. When you turn it on, you can hear the fan, but it is whisper quiet, much unlike the other humidifiers I have tried.

Been using DAILY for TWO YEARS

KPfeet, Amazon
2 December 2011
  • Summary: HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! I just realized I have never posted a review for this item . . . and its one of the best things I own! I got this from Amazon 2 years ago and its still kicking! I love that it has a cool/warm mist setting (which is hard to find for under $100.) If you use the low output setting, it will run for about 24 hours. I will say the "warm" mist doesn't seem very warm, but really no complaints since overall it does the trick.

One Year Later, Still Working Great

Nadine, Amazon
1 December 2011
  • Summary: Since the climate here is dry, I have been running my humidifier for at least 10 of the past 12 months. It is still running great and keeps the humidity in our living room at a comfortable level. I no longer shock my cat, or husband, when I touch them. Some Notes: Water. Using filtered water, I do not have any white dust from using my humidifier. When I attempted to use tap water, I had white dust on furniture within a day.

Silent? No. Quiet? Yes!! (Poorly constructed? Yes!)

Kevin H., Amazon
5 November 2011
  • Summary: I'm lowering my rating to 3 stars. --4 stars for operation and 2 for design problems-- (Bottom line: they should stop making these in China for goodness sake) This is still a great quiet humidifier WHEN IT WORKS. The normal operation is quiet enough for me to place it in the bedroom while I'm sleeping, and from 15 feet away I can't tell if it's on (except for the occasional noise from the air bubbles, every 5-10 minutes).

Powerful. Quiet. But Small Tank.

An Informed User, Amazon
2 November 2011
  • Summary: I believe Ultrasonic is the best humidifier type. Disadvantages each type: . Fan force Evaporation - A fan blows into a wick. Loud and large and the wick allows bacteria/mold to grow. The wick/filter needs frequent replacement. . Impeller - A high-speed spinning disk breaks up water into beats. Loud and the droplets are not small enough, so they tend to fall around the unit creating white residue problem. Will not last long due to hard water residue. .

Good unit, lots of vapor, but can be messy if on floor

M. Gessner, Amazon
26 May 2011
  • Summary: I bought this as a replacement to the traditional filter style units with costly filters. It is absolutely quieter than the fan driven unit. There is a low hum, which disappears into background noise quickly. The controls work very well and are easy to read. It makes a lot of vapor quickly, unlike the other style that take time to wet out the filter. At full power, I measured a change of 40% to 85% RH in a small bedroom.

Best humidifier

Codyabi, Amazon
9 March 2011
  • Summary: After buying and going thru several of the cheaper humidifiers, I was looking for a better one. I was a little skeptical of paying this much for a humidifier, but it is definitely worth it. The unit is quiet. It does warm or cool vapor. I use the distilled water (very cheap), and it lasts a long time. I run the humidifier everyday for 2-3 hours during my grandchilds nap. This is the best humidifier I have ever used.

Humidifier helped my breathing

Gary Gorski, Amazon
4 March 2011
  • Summary: I bought this humidifier because it was top rated by Consumer Reports. Since I've been using it for several weeks my lungs have lost the wheezing from being in dry air all the time due to the cold temperatures in winter, especially having the car heat on high all the time. Maintenance has been very easy. During the first week of use, I was refilling the tank almost every day. Now, three weeks later, it is every three days or so.

Pros / Cons - Very Good, but Some Things to Look Out For

Artemaria, Amazon
10 January 2011
  • Summary: Bought this based on the Consumer Reports review. Have had it for over two months in a cold winter and a dry room. In sum, this is a very good humidifier with some annoying deficiencies. Pros: Humidity - lots and lots of humidity. This thing works alot better than any of those drug store humidifiers that you will find for $30-$40 and then break after a couple of years. It really generates a ton of humidity and is really exceptional in that regard.

Prohibitive Filter Cost and Life, Drip Container Source Included

Over 50, Amazon
3 January 2011
  • Summary: The owner's manual identifies the filter lasts 6 weeks, provided 8-hour per day operation; perfectly accurate iinformation. After three weeks at maximum output and continuous (cold water) operation, white dust collected on my air conditioning pre-filters. We deduced a two week life of the humidifier filter, as our AC filters were one week old. We do not use the heated mist operation, but do not believe it impacts the filters life.
