Summary: This model humidifier is well-designed and does the job quietly and reliably. It mounts easily and well. I recommend it for any good central heating system. I upgraded from a 20 year old Aprilaire.
Summary: I just read a couple of negative reviews here, some that were even clueless as to how the unit works, that blew my mind so felt I had to post my own review. I have had my 700 for 10 years and it is still going strong and working great. Never had to repair or replace a single part and really humidifies well. It works especially well with an upgraded automatic digital contol with outdoor temp sensor. Get one and enjoy...
Summary: I have a 2600 sq feet split level in Maryland. We are a small family of 3 and we use a small portion of the house. This machine does not have the capability to keep this house at comfortable humidity in the winter. One feels dry and flaky all winter. Don't install this. Get something else. It does not work well for a mid size home like us.
Not Recommended, Unreliable and Warranty is void unless installed by licensed contractor

Summary: In less than a year the solenoid valve broke, Aprilaire will not honor their 5-year warranty if self installed. Valve costs $100 to replace. I would go with a different brand that actually stands behind their product.
Summary: I like this model as it can now maintain my house up around 45% humidity with the new fan controls. We live in Colorado where humidity is a real commodity, and this model really helps raise the humidity in our house. Our house is over 2500sf and it has no problem keeping out house there. The only problem is that I have to manually throttle back the water flow to prevent excess water from running down the drain.
Aprilaire 700A replaces Honeywell Truesteam and life is good!

Summary: We purchased the Aprilaire 700A and installed it per the instructions. I have to say it works better than the Honeywell Truesteam it replaced. The Truesteam ran all the time and cost over $400.00 in repairs over the 5 years owned. (Piece of S***!) Our 5 yr old home is 3600 sq ft on the main floor with an 1100 sq ft bonus room above the garage. The Aprilaire unit brought our relative humidity from 25% to 40% and has maintained that over the last 4 days since the install.
