The sound is not quite as accurate as the YSP-1000, but it does a good job for much less cash. I bought this for my parents after owning a YSP-1000 for a few years. My mother hates the "ugly" surround sound speakers mounted in the corners of a room--no matter what the size. This is the perfect device for them. It is also much easier to setup, and provides quality sound for cheaper. I prefer this over a cheap home theater in a box anyday, but I also weight the quality of... Read more

  2. Yamaha YSP 800 -- returned in 24 hours...

What a great idea and worthless product -- for me, in a small media room, at least. While I have a lot of respect for various Yamaha products, this one is not on my list. While it purports to be a "sound projector" -- I would characterize it as a very expensive, small speaker box with marginal stereo effect, unimpressive midrange, non-existant bass and no observable surround sound. I was not prepared to shell out better part of a grand for a "$100 sounding" speaker. I... Read more

I bought this product based on the reviews here and on other sites, and unfortunately it's not working that well for me. Problem is that my room is basically a long rectangle, and the tv and sound bar are set up in the corner. The way my room in configured, I get no surround type sound. Basically I'm stuck with a Stereo + 3 Beam configuration. The sound is not bad, better then my tv, but it's just not worth the money in my situation. However, if you have the right... Read more

I was looking for an unobtrusive surround sound audio system. The Bose 321 just didn't do it for me. I saw the YSP-800 at Best buy and eventhough it wasn't set up in an optimal environment it did sound quite good. Additional research found that the technology involved DID produce TRUE 5.1 sound. But the proof is in the pudding. Once home, It took about 15 minutes to hook up and another ten to run the auto-set up feature. It was really amazing hearing all these chirps and... Read more
