Summary: Have gone through a few soundbars. Decided to spend the extra bucks and move into a higher level with the Yamaha YSP3300. First off, on looks alone, its aluminium case gives it a high quality look and the wife is happy to include it in any part of our home. Set-up is simple and straight forward. Followed the surround settings by using a supplied mic which measures room envirionment.
Summary: [...] There are 8 beam drivers (1 + 1/8 inch each) aligned in the center with a bass driver in each foot. There is a subwoofer output, Looks to be a very good sounding unit. I want to get one.
Excerpt: effortless set-up ... mounted unit in a tough room - one side open to another room, the other side a kitchen area with a diffuse 'wall'. The subwoofer not real ideally placed either, but ... ran the auto cal and ta-da, it sounds great. These sound bars have really come a long way in ~10 years and this one is a keeper. Well balanced sound across the spectrum, and just enough of a simulated surround. Excellent!
Summary: Considering the nature of the Yamaha YSP 3300 as a soundbar, I think the surround effect is quite remarkable. Setup was easy enough, the sound quality is very good on movie/TV programs. The stereo music quality is pretty good but movies are the vehicle through which this really shines.
Pros: For limited space an excellent choice. Setup pretty simple. Good ergonomics Good surround effects
Excerpt: I just love it.Great for tv Great with my receiver(also Yamaha). Great sound and music. I waited 2 months before buying because there is not much of a reviews.I took the risk and I'm very happy with it No problem with setup, but I will need couple of hours to reset it manualy because of a add room shape.
Pros: Attractive Design, Easy to Mount, Easy To Set Up, Good Power Output, Great Sound Quality
Excerpt: Installed my YSP-3300 to replace a pair of Phase Tech speakers. While not as robust as a surround system, this sound projector blows away my previous AVR/speaker combo. Excellent, accurate sound. Easy to install. MANY inputs allows elimination of AVR. Power is good, not great, but fine for my open 20' x 20' family room. I've been using stereo mode, not surround, due to open rooms, but sound is still excellent.
Pros: Attractive Design, Easy to Mount, Great Sound Quality
