Summary: We have had this item several years and it is fantastic. Easy to set up and use. we are using it in our living room/ dining combo room with the living room on the left side and the intelli-beam had no problem directing the sound properly. We used the optical audio input that is better than the coaxial cable, and are very happy.
Summary: Purchased this unit over a year ago and I am very impressed by the quality of the product. There are 40 some speakers and it creates virtual surround sound. I've pushed this thing to the limit and it still works. I would recommend using the TOS LINK or Fiberoptic audio input for better sound. The sound quality is great and setting up the unit was very easy. I would recommend a subwoofer for larger rooms. This unit has a subwoofer out.
Summary: Hello everyone. Let me start by saying that this is one of the best pieces of sonic hardware out there for those of you that do not either want to run wires, or for whatever reason can not do a traditional 5.1, 6.1, or 7.1 set up. I am a huge audio/video guy, so I was not sure this would work for me (my other set up is an all around THX grade set up, over $10k to put it in perspective) and this unit is nothing short of phenominal.
Summary: requires a lot of wires considering it is supposed to be for stream lining your home theatre. no hdmi big negative in this day and age. spectacular sound quality though. just depends whats important to you.
Summary: But, you will want to get an outboard subwoofer to complete the package. I added the Yamaha YST-SW215 subwoofer to complete the bottom end. The proof was when I invited friends over to watch a good sound driven DVD telling them that the main home theatre system in the basement theatre was being used by my son and his friends.
Summary: For those who want their house to sound like a true movie theater, this may not be the system for you. What I can say is I have no desire to run wires to the back of the room for rear speakers and this sound projecter kept me from doing so. It as quick to install, it is completely self contained, and the sound quality is good. I use for both television and listening to music. The only issue I can say I have, is the volume is a little low when used as a home stereo.
Summary: Comments about Yamaha YSP1100 Speaker System: AMAZING SOUND. REALLY FELLL IN LOVE WITH THIS ONE. ESPECIALLY THE 5 BEAM SETTING. I LOVE THE NEW CIRCUITRY IN THE ULTRASONE PROLINE HEADPHONES. WITH 5 BEAM ON IT IS A VERY SIMILAR EFFECT. I DID NOT REALLY BUY INTO THE WHOLE VIRTUAL SURROUND UNTIL TRYING THE ULTRASONES. THAT IS WHY I CONSIDERED TRYING THIS PRODUCT OUT AND IT BLOWS THE ULTRASONE HEADPHONES OUT OF THE WATER.
Pros: Attractive Design, Crisp Sound, Easy To Connect, Great Sound Quality, Powerful
Summary: I really like this sound system in my room. The surround function works well when I have all my doors and drapes closed. The My Beam function is very useful because I like to play the TV loud and not bother the other people in the house. I also use the steady sound mode so the volume stays pretty consistent from channel to channel.
Summary: System works great. As others have said, system position is key because if you're missing a side wall for a kitchen you're 5.1 might sound less. Still I have that problem and it sounds great. I love playing video games and watching tv while my wife sleeps without disturbance. Pros: + My Beam + Automatic setup with microphone + 5.1, less wires + I can move my tv setup easily without moving speaker cables.
