Summary: I just received my YMC-700 as a birthday gift from my friend. It was installed on my new bedroom and the set up was incredibly easy. Upgrade the firmware. Plug speakers in, put in the YPAO microphone, press set up and walk out of the room. The sound quality is amazing. The unit is perfect for an environment with wireless. (It can directly access to your audio files in your computer. NO CABLES!!. ) Absolutely highly recommended!
Summary: I could care less about a billion watts per channel blah blah blah. Just make it work, make it easy and I'm happy. I'm one of those guys that just wants a small remote with a few buttons. This seemed to fit that bill. well... at least until I got it. Setup was pretty simple. I have inwall LCR speakers and a sub- the receiver calibrated them pretty nicely with the included mic. Wifi setup took about 10 minutes to type in the stuff it required- no big deal.
Summary: My first reaction was mild surprise. This unit is small and light. I hefted my 50+ lb receiver out of the way and replaced it with this svelte 8 lb device. Setup was a breeze - with the IR blasters in place I could quickly and easily control my Tivo, hd-tv, blu-ray player and HTPC. I'd highly recommmend the iPod doc. Connection to Pandora was also easy -- this was one of the reasons I purchased this unit.
Summary: I have been using Yamaha receivers for some time, but here they surpassed themselves. Easy to use, great sound... easy to connect. But above all, the world internet radio feature is just a jewel. I browse all the radios in the world, country by country. It's just endless... I am not even sure how it is managed but it turns out so easy, just click on a country or genre and hundreds of radio stations show up.
Summary: This receiver was very easy to install and setup. Only took me about an hour to have it up and running with all my components connected. Would have been much longer but I chose not to use the IR flashers (more one this later). The connections on the back are well laid out and labeled. One more HDMI connection on the back would have been nice to have. The on screen menu is easy to use once you get familiar with the navigation and menu levels.
Summary: I was able to quickly set up the YMC-700 receiver with the other new equipment that I purchased at the same time: blu-ray dvd player, samsung hd-tv. I have been able to get most functions to work: Internet Radio, Pandora Radio, etc. To access Pandora and the Internet, this has worked quite well. There have been very few problems here - there have been occasional internet connections dropped.
Summary: Pros: +Small Form Factor +Great sound +Easy setup +Wireless access Cons: -User Interface -Limited remote with poor sensitivity -Limited front panel controls I chose this unit kinda knowing what I was getting into. Other reviews online are accurate and fair and all comparative receivers are much larger and more costly. It had a nice small form factor that included HDMI input processing. It also has great sound and relatively easy setup (about an hour out of the box).
Summary: This unit was very easy to install although finding the IR receivers on the other components was challenging. I wish the remote had numbers on it. I understand making it simple but it makes for slow channel access. I found myself having to keep the digital cable box remote for speed and convenience. I love the internet radio access and the ipod dock is a definite add-on we were glad we purchased. The unit is small and well laid out. This is a good looking piece.
