Summary: I bought this system for my 32 inch tv in my bedroom so it would expand the sound through the room better. And was very pleased because it was much better then coming out of the speakers on the front of the tv,Maybe not a surround system per-say but definitely a approvment
Summary: Give rate 4 first. >>>>>>>Sept 1st, 2012 ---- I placed order today. I want a home theater system for my home. To better music experience for my family when watch TV and watching movies from my iPad/iPhone, and from my 1080p blue ray player.
Summary: i originally purchased a LG NB3520A sound bar simply because it had the best ratings, 300W output & had awesome features like bluetooth capable. This was a good soundbar but with one major problem which is the sound quality which i started to notice when i started watching movies. Sound was so imbalanced only an audiophile would notice that but for most normal users LG is still the best out there.
Summary: I bought this after doing a lot of research online and in big box stores. I researched both traditional home theater (with Blu Ray) systems and sound bars from almost all leading brands. Traditional home theater comes with its own pain for arranging speakers and adds to living room clutter. I stay in an apartment and I don't want to add clutter to my living room.So I decided to go for sound bar.
Summary: The design goals for flat panel TVs is to manufacture them to be as thin as possible and to minimize the boarders to optimize the viewing area. Unfortunately, this leaves very little room for built-in speakers and the consequence is "tinny" or "shrill" sounds from the TV's tiny speakers. Even though a soundbar is relatively small, the sound quality is rich and full. Add in the subwoofer, and you will hear the bass that you are *supposed* to hear.
Summary: This is the perfect solution for a mediumish room and if you don't want to run a bunch of wires. The integrated sub in the receiver is genius level. We use it in our upstairs living room just to give us a little extra umph for our movies while the kids watch their stuff downstairs on the big system.
OK for many or most, but doesn't work well for my needs

Summary: I bought this for a second TV in a bedroom. I have a higher-end built-in surround sound system including a Yamaha receiver in my living room. That living room receiver has "pass-through standby" or standby pass-through, which is to say that, when the receiver isn't on, the TV speakers still produce sound, e.g., if you want to listen quietly at night.
Summary: I bought this Soundbar to replace my Bose Cinemate Speaker System, and should say I am more then pleased by the sound effects, quality and the range of this Soundbar. Although as other reviewers have said don't expect surround sound effect as compared to a full 5.1 channnel or 7.1 channel multi-speaker system, but it still gives you decent feeling of virtual surround.
Summary: I bought this SoundBar after reading multiple reviews and comparing other products. I actually bought this because I had an Onkyo 7.1 System in my Condo and wanted something simple and small to take up less space etc. The Yamaha System is as the other reviewers say plenty Loud for a small space. DO NOT expect 7.1 surround sound from this unit but this system does sound good and it accomplished what I needed just fine.
