Summary: I bought this system for my 32 inch tv in my bedroom so it would expand the sound through the room better. And was very pleased because it was much better then coming out of the speakers on the front of the tv,Maybe not a surround system per-say but definitely a approvment
Summary: i originally purchased a LG NB3520A sound bar simply because it had the best ratings, 300W output & had awesome features like bluetooth capable. This was a good soundbar but with one major problem which is the sound quality which i started to notice when i started watching movies. Sound was so imbalanced only an audiophile would notice that but for most normal users LG is still the best out there.
Summary: I bought this after doing a lot of research online and in big box stores. I researched both traditional home theater (with Blu Ray) systems and sound bars from almost all leading brands. Traditional home theater comes with its own pain for arranging speakers and adds to living room clutter. I stay in an apartment and I don't want to add clutter to my living room.So I decided to go for sound bar.
Summary: The design goals for flat panel TVs is to manufacture them to be as thin as possible and to minimize the boarders to optimize the viewing area. Unfortunately, this leaves very little room for built-in speakers and the consequence is "tinny" or "shrill" sounds from the TV's tiny speakers. Even though a soundbar is relatively small, the sound quality is rich and full. Add in the subwoofer, and you will hear the bass that you are *supposed* to hear.
OK for many or most, but doesn't work well for my needs

Summary: I bought this for a second TV in a bedroom. I have a higher-end built-in surround sound system including a Yamaha receiver in my living room. That living room receiver has "pass-through standby" or standby pass-through, which is to say that, when the receiver isn't on, the TV speakers still produce sound, e.g., if you want to listen quietly at night.
Summary: I install audio / video on the side. I do it because I love it. I also take great care and pride in my work. Part of what I bring to the table for the people I help is advisement on equipment (usually saving them thousands by recommending alternative brands / dealers). On this last install, I was helping a friend who did not want to go the multichannel / surround route. Instead he was interested in a sound bar.
Summary: After seeing 51 out of 91 reviews being 5 stars, and lots of 4 star reviews as well, I had high expectations for this unit. Unfortunately, it really isn't that impressive. I had an old JVC THC-5 DVD playing unit that recently died, and I've been looking for a suitable replacement. This Yamaha unit isn't it.
Summary: Adjust your expectations for this sexy little unit and I think you will be pleased. My viewing room is 15' X 15' and only has half-walls at the back. The system sounds very good when we moved the couch to within ten feet. the overall quality of sound varies wildly with the source: full HD video typically has very full sound while non-HD cable signals sound compressed. Playing music through the system works very nicely--if you sit close enough.
Summary: I just set up this system and it is a great deal for such little money. My apartment living room is about 15'x15' and this setup fills it with deep, rumbling movie theater sound. The receiver/sub woofer is fairly large, but it is exceptionally well-built and looks like a high-end piece of audio gear sitting under my tv. I was worried that since the woofer is built into the receiver that it would be under-powered, but I was wrong.
